I have a broadband dataone BSNL connection at Agra. For several days, I am unable to connect. Whenever I try the message error 678 appears I have complained on phone no. 1967. Inspite of a few days having passed, there is no connection. I wish to know whether any other users have BSNL broadband dataone connection and what is their experience. Please also suggest some alternative.

Hello Gulshan Kumar ji,

I have faced the same problem thrice. In the first instance,I had to switch off and switch on the modem power button, which worked. In the second instance,I did so but the DSL light on the modem blinked consistently (which should not be) and I had to change the DSL telephone wire(brought new one).It then worked.

The third time was tough,I changed the wires again, but it did not just work;I even reset the modem(the small hole behind the modem) and I had to constantly call the call operator for one week.In the second week they asked me to manually change some IP4 settings and also the settings when connected to BSNL modem server http://192.168.1.1/ (it requires the username and password which the operator gives). It then worked. I am having a UTStarcom Modem with BSNL 750 Dataone plan.

If you still face this problem, you can check out the BSNL trouble shooting page for internet connections at http://www.indiabroadband.net/bsnl-broadband/120-bsnl-dataone-dsl-broadband-internet-trouble-shooting.html

Thanks Swetha and rakesh. I shall try the methods suggested. But I am not so technical. I may try switchin on and off. Beyond that I have to call the BSNL persons. But they are not so quick.

the username and password for 192.168.1.1. is admin only.. i tried this to increase my utorrent speed by giving port number in thet webpage..
In spite of complaint to BSNL. visit by a line man to check the connection and talk with concerned S.D.O.m my connection still does not work. so, i can no longer use internet in the evening from home. There is no other broadband service in my area. Some suggest that I should take a wireless Pen drive type connection. I request users to suggest what would be the proper alternative. Will 3G work better.
