Wiki commons is a good source for uncopyrighted images. But you have to check for the details pertaining to usage.

I usually use images from wiki but you can also try these websites which provide copyright free images.

FreeFoto, Stockvault, FreeDigitalPhotos, stock.xchng, Flickr, Publicdomainphotos.

But I guess they are very limited. I mean can I get any photo there, no matter what topic I am writing on? I usually need images from the tech field - mobiles, smartphones, etc?

You are mistaken Krishna Promod, the sites you mentioned are free for members only, who pay for their use of photos according to their requirement in advance. They are provided a code to erase copyright mark. If you use any of these photos which have no copyright mark are still property of these sites and use of these photos will result in your article as rejected. Either you have permission to use the site by paying or licence issued by them. They charge according to size and quality of every photo and then write 'royalty free'

I love this free image hosting site for sharing my work

Thanks for the great info. But then isn't there any way by which we can practically get free images that are also free of copyrights?
This is always confusing thing for me.. So these days I am not using any images. I have seen some user using images from wikipedia .. So I guess they are safe.

Even some photos on wikipedia are not for free use but permission to use them or link them back is needed. But yes wikipedia is comparatively safer although not all sites linked or mentioned on wikipedia. Wikipedia refer them for info purpose only. So using those photos would also make your article a case of rejection.

When you use a photo or a painting published in the Wiki media, it clearly mentions, 'You are free to use, because, the photo or illustration has been published in the public domain. There is no confusion at all.
So all wikimedia photos are uncopyrighted. We can use it na..

Thanks for your informations.
