How to write the Indian rupee symbol ?

Type 20B9 and then press Alt key from the left side on your keyboard and "X" together. This works on MS Word.

On website with HTML pages, I think you can use & and #8377; together. I used it here to show rupee symbol: ₹ :)

I have been using Rs as there is no Rupee symbol on my keyboard. I thought since the symbol is not in the keys it cannot be typed. Thanks for the information. I'll try to to get the symbol next time.

Use full information I don't know how to type symbol of India ruppee. Still I am Rs. for rupee.
In MS Excel 2010, the cell formatting option allows you to use the new rupee symbol with any value you type.

And, I researched MS Word 2010 has a way to help users replace Rs. with ₹ in existing content. You can refer to the help page from an MS Word file. Or else, I can share the link here should that be a need (and if that is allowed). :)

In MS office 2007 the 20B9 trick is not working.. Any idea?

Yes, it won't work for the 2007 version. For Word 2007, you will need to install the hotfix (Rupee Foradian Fonts) provided by Microsoft. You can search from Google to get the downloadable link and there are many links that suggest how to install the hot fix and enable the new rupee symbol in 2007 that you can follow.

I don't have the 2007 version anymore, else I would have taken snapshots and posted here. However, you can find all help from Google on the hotfix from Microsoft.

Hope that helps!
