I guess it is the basic insecurity that is responsible. Man is traditionally supposed to be the one who brigs in the income, so when roles are reversed in some cases there would be misunderstanding and the resultant unhappiness. In some cases it may be overt and in some subtle which either way affects the health of a marriage.

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

I think, this could also be an ego problem. Men are always known to dominate their women and when the women are earning more than them, it will certainly hurt their minds. A hurt mind is more powerful than a hurt body, be it in the positive or negative sense.

I have met so many colleagues who are females and are married. I think the women get the problem during their pregnancy only and sometimes as they are more conscious about their children, so they prefer to live at home.

Still now many people think so that only men have rights to earn. This is wrong and women proved that they are equal in many steps.

You are right. They sacrifice for the children. For this they are Mother. Hats off to all mothers.

I also have seen and personally know many such families where the mothers have quit their jobs just to concentrate on the studies of their kids. A mother is indeed a form of "shakti". I really appreciate such mothers. Salute to such moms!

Biologically woman is more capable of nurturing the child, however when there is need these traditional roles can always be changed.But people get conditioned to these ideas and men tend to think that a woman should stay at home and look after the child and it is her duty to do so.If the woman does not have the aptitude for such a thing she is not going to be happy being just a stay at home wife/mother.I know of many mothers who are happier working full time even if the children are very small....either way there could be problems, through husbands or children.But what it boils down to is the way society has made us believe that a woman is meant to carry on the tradition of home maker and that she is suited to do that and her aim in life is just that ....

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

Now the wife earning more or senior to her husband is common in government service. When husband and wife both are employed in government service or anywhere else, there is likelihood that the wife may get an opportunity to earn more and be her husband's senior. In such cases, husbands also easily reconcile to this fact and lead normal life. One of my colleague's wife passed a departmental exam and she got promotion accordingly and became her husband's senior. The husband reconciled to this.
