Soordas is best Hindi poet. Inspite of his blindness, he wrote very touching description of Lord Krishna childhood. His verse is immortalized in Soor Sagar. His birtday falls oin third May though this is just official and no certain date of birth is available.

Today there are celebrations of soor Jayanti in Soor Sadan and soor Kuti. The great poet was born in Agra. There is a couplet on Hindi poets: Soor soor, tulasi sasi, udgan keshwa Dass. Later some one added: pant, Nirala Bulb hain, laltain hai vyas. (soordas is Sun, Tulsidas moon, Keshav das a light worm. Addition: Pant and Nirala are bulbs and Vyas is a lantern.

    Surdas's literary works like Sahitya Lahari are instrumental in Spreading the Bhakti movement in North India. They are unparalleled A great poet. My respects to this illustrious Poet.
