    Very much heard of it, if I am able to recollect memory correctly she was once a presidential; candidate probably from leftists.

    May be. She lead an exemplary life and worked for humanitarian causes all along her life. She is worth emulating.

    Yes. she died  at kanpur where she served people as a doctor. she was also once candidate for post of President of India. she was mother of Subashini Ali, CPI(M) leader an ex M.P. from Kanpur.  Laxmi Sehgal was South INdia but she was married to a Punjabi.  She participated prominently in Azad Hind Sena commanded by Netaji subhash Chandra Bose. She was an eminent freedom fighter and a social worker.
