I have visted a few of them, one is our own Mitra Samaj in Udipi where you get besides Vada Sambhar and Goli Baje,  excellent  Masala Dosa with butter and Upma made with Cashew nuts .Mavalli Tiffin room in Bangalore used to be a favorite haunt for us during college days and now of course MTR food items are known all over being exported to many countries as well. their special Thali is to die for and one must reserve even on week days and go with an empty stomach or else you will not be able to do justice to it..

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

I visited Mavali Tiffin room. As usual, the list is not complete. There are many eateries in AP as old as 80- 90 years and still going strong.. None of them are enlisted.

I might have visited couple of these during my stay in South India but the list is not complete without mention of

This coffee house has branches in almost every big/small city worth its name in India. The place is popular among people who sit and talk for hours esp from art and litrature world.

There is a Coffee House in Hyderabad. But did not visit it as far as my memory goes. I might have forgotten.\ even. I remember it's located in King Kothi Road.

The name is Indian Coffee House, common in all cities and with common menu and dress for staff.

One omission is  India Coffee house in Bangalore which is a land mark and restaurant that one has to visit when in bangalore .It used to be on MG Road before but after the Mono rail project it has now shifted to Church street off Brigade road , another of our college day haunts where we used to share coffee, sandwiches and cutlets because everyone was on a tight budget !

Started in 1940. And there were only 50 coffee Houses in India during British regime. Amazing.
