Very nice to listen to the jana mana gana sung by celebrities. But we are supposed to stand attention and not move during the song. But these celebrities are moving their hands, head and making gestures. Is this okay?

Movements of limbs are essential to express the content effectively. Standing without any movement is for the listeners and the audience.

But the school children and also office employees stand attention while chanting the national song.  Movement of limbs does not appear necessary for them.

I agree. As a rule National anthem demands attention and respect. All are expected to stand in attention. But the video is to stress on National integration. Which is why singers and eminent musicians drawn from the entire length and breadth of the country

The programme of singing Jana Gana mana is meant for a concert. exclusively for TV viewers highlighting National integration The question of standing in attention while the National anthem is going on will not arise.

I prefer that you show respect while singing Jana Gana Mana since it is our national anthem, I wish they had not used their hands and shaken their heads so much , ,,,The last bit Jaya he is ok..

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

Had it been a Public performance, not standing in attention is definitely a disrespect. Imagine you are listening the National anthem in your home. Then there is no necessity of standing in attention..
