A rare gesture but outside religion. Thanks for the information.

There are several such places where almost all the animals  have temples. What all is needed is a bit of exploration.

We worship most of the animals or reptiles who can harm us. But I wonder if any where the most faithful animal to man the dog is worshiped. On the contrary calling someone a kutta is an insult.

Actually there is a temple for Dog in Karnataka in a place called Ramnagar where Sholay was shot..

A little extreme step of showing reverence to the man's best friend, but nonetheless it shows our gratitude to the loyal animal. I guess, we already worship so many animals and birds, so no harm in having temples for a few.

Yes. There is also a varah avatar (incarnation) meaning pig. Lord Vishnu may appear in any form. One avatar is of Lion man (Nara sinha).

Narasimha is a combination of Man and Lion. There is a temple in the place called Simhachalam in my neighborhood not far from me. There is also temple for the incarnation of Kurma or tortoise. There are many temples in India for Kurma incarnation of Vishnu. One is in Srikakulam district AP The temple is located at a place called SriKurmam

All in all it is better to worship animals and birds than filmstars and politicians I feel...In Tamilnadu they have temple many of the top stars and the stars are quite happy to be a part of it.I remember seeing how Khushboo was the chief guest for the inaguration of a temple built in her honor years ago!!!
