Media plays a major role in changing and manipulating public opinion. While some of it may be advantageous, some are downright condemnable because of the insinuations they make trying to change history probably to please some vested interests  .. Hu ffington post has done this several times before but this time they got a dose of their own medicine from the twitterati ..The two links give all the relevant details!

History should be seen in the background when it occurs and not from today's viewpoint. Then distortion takes place.

Violence and butchery on the basis of religion has no background and if someone tries to call it a misunderstood act then there is something wrong with their thinking..

A very distorted view of Great Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb- wll described as Fakir Badshah- has been handed over from generation to generation. He is said to have destroyed many temples but this is also on record that he helped many temples by donating Jagirs. Possibly, some temples were den of corruption and anti state activities.  Aurangzeb had to act against them. Here is an article on aurangzeb:

Whitewashing a reign of terror and butchery based on religion and communalism does not hide facts ..

Aurangzeb (1658–1707)Edit

The Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb's reign saw a scale of religious violence in India that lists as 23rd in 100 deadliest episodes of atrocities in human history.[84]

The reign of Aurangzeb witnessed one of the strongest campaign of religious violence in Mughal Empire's history. Historian Matthew White claims an estimated 4.6 million people were killed under his reign.[84] Aurangzeb banned Diwali, re-introduced jizya (tax) on non-Muslims,[85] led numerous campaigns of attacks against non-Muslims, destroyed Hindu temples.[86]

Aurangzeb issued orders in 1669, to all his governors of provinces to "destroy with a willing hand the schools and temples of the infidels, and that they were strictly enjoined to put an entire stop to the teaching and practice of idolatrous forms of worship".[87] These orders and his own initiative in implementing them led to the destruction of numerous temples, contributing to the list of temples destroyed during Islamic rule of India.[88][89]Some temples were destroyed entirely; in other cases mosques were built on their foundations, sometimes using the same stones. Idols were smashed, and the city of Mathura was temporarily renamed as Islamabad in local official documents.[87][90]

How does it help today to condemn or glorify someone who lived 400 years ago.Today we desire to live in a secular society. By constantly raking up such issues what purpose is achieved.Yes he was a demon so what or he was not so demon as is claimed, so what. Please migrate into 2017 from pre 1900.

Knowing fully well who distorted history to suit their Communal agenda and when truth comes out it is expected that some people try to patronise but facts cannot be changed either in 1900 or in 2017..

How can history be distorted. Everyone knows who did what. It is only the convenient interpretation that is resorted to by different ideologies from time to time.

Exactly! It is the convenient interpretation/distortion that was done , for reasons best   known to the distorter that I am highlighting here !

Why not be straight rather then move in circles. We are not as intelligent as you to come to right conclusions.

The Conclusion is Aurangazeb is well known for Anti Hindu Policies. He has demolished many Hindu sacred Temples like Kashi Viswanath temple, Somnath tewmple etc.

Do you think  Aurangazeb should be guarded and honored?
