The proposal for free supply of essential drugs is welcome. But there should also be free education, which is also essential.

Health and education both are essential. Government must provide medicine free in government hospitals to all patients.

Actually drugs can save life of many peoples who belong to needy families. This is good attempt to develop health and well being of the people. Education is important but life is more.
Its a good move by the government but do u think that those free medicine would reach to the govt hospitals and poor people?

Actually, health is a state subject. Most people do not even go to government hospitals. If you visit one, they will charge a nominal amount, may be Rs. five for making entry slip. After that consult the doctor and get medicines from hospital. If they do not provide medicines and ask you to go to market instead, you may complain to higher authorities.

Normally, this is not feasible. even the poor go to private doctors or even quacks and get some medicines from market. I remember that in sixties and seventies, people generally went to government hospitals and were treated there. But later private practice flourished and private hospitals and nursing homes flourished. So, no good treatment and no medicines in government hospitals.

This provides them a big chance to make money, they already have a provision to supply free drugs to needy ones but almost all medicines go to black market or not supplied by the suppliers who are paid through fake bills..

I love this free image hosting site for sharing my work

This is a nice step taken as health is also important and many poor will be benefited as now a days the cost of medicine is too much.

I agree with your neighbor. Medicines must not be distributed by any one. It is okay for government to supply medicines free to hospitals. It is okay for a doctor to give medicine free to his patient.

Even if your attention is good, it is wrong to give medicines yourself. These must be sold to a patient or given free only when prescribed by a doctor. Free medical consultation and free medicines by hospitals and doctors only is okay. I remember that once some body fell ill. His neighbor gave him some medicines according to his own understanding. But the condition of patient deteriorated as the medicines were wrong and expired.
