    Ravi Shankar the Indian maestro put the sitar on the musical map.He is credited with popularising Indian classical music far beyond its borders.

    really sad and a shocking news to me....
    This year has seen a lot of such losses, all are artists who have contributed a lot.

    This is a very sad news. He was best musician. A recipient of Bharat Ratna in 1999.He was one of the gift for Indian Musical World.

    He was the one person to have lot of respect in the field of Sitar playing. He has won 3 grammy awards and he was also nominated for 2013 grammy awards.
    I hope Aonushka shankar takes the charge and go beyond her father in Sitar Playing.
