Narendra Dabholkar an eminent activist who has done much to eradicate superstitions and black magic in Maharashtra was shot dead in Pune today morning. Ha was heading the "Andhashraddha Nirmulan Samiti" for a long time and was For a long time he had been pressing to get the anti-superstition and black magic bill passed and had also attracted the wrath of many on the issue of jaat panchayat in Maharashtra!

Community to whom Dadholkar is opposing is much powerful. He is like whistle blower.

Yes. His enemies are more powerful. Dadhokar wanted to make us rational and not believe any one or anything blindly. But there is nexus between politicians, corporate world, underworld and organized religion. If people get rid of superstitions and blind faith in these so called gurus, they will work sincerely and not depend on any miracles. They cannot be fooled by any one. There are many- Babas (politicians and powerful bureaucrats and businessmen seek their blessings) whose very livelihood depends on blind faith. The astrologers and temple managers also come in this category.

In fact most of these dhongi babas have a powerful nexus with most politicians!

Hi, back after a lot of days and that too on a tab. Looks hard to type it this way, but I am enjoying it.
Anyways, yes. It was indeed terrible to read about Mr. Dabholkar. And that gad to happen on this auspicious day. That is really very very sad. I hope the culprits are caught at the earliest.

I do not think culprits will be caught that easily. The very purpose of removing Dabholkar out of way before elections started is quite creepy, all we are going to see soon is long discussions and talks on who might the culprits be!

Yes. The culprits won't be caught easily and that's why I said I hope. Things won't be easy when it comes to investigations. And the timing of the assault was indeed very bad, I guess. And moreover it was on the auspicious day as well.

Why superstition and black magic is not eliminated. This is very prevalent in North East. The author of the following link opines that politicians never reform. They go the easy way and compromise with the ground reality.
