Bush fires are common in this area but worst part for me is that my new home where we have not yet moved is in one of the fire affected areas. We can see the impact of fire which is almost 15 km away from here. I just took a picture of the sky, Sun is not visible clearly. Bushfire is a big problem of this particular area.

I think this sort of fires are common in the US too where there are vast stretches of space and when the weather is hot, the dry twigs catch fire easily....How do they control it? do they just leave it or are there some measures taken ?

There are 600 fire engines working regularly on them and they are praying for torrential rains to come help extinguish the fire out. You can see some of the pics in the link provided.

From what I perceive this is something that does happen every now and then.....But 30 homes destoyed already which means it is bad ..If developed nations like US and Australia are unable to handle stop it one can imagine what wuld be the impact if it happens in India.I have seen the trees on the sides of the western Ghat ranges burning away during summer monthss without anyone doing anything...

I must add that with so many jungles and grasslands besides bush-areas, Australia is always under fire threat at different places. This is a regular feature here despite their best efforts. The fire department declared 47 places 'out of control' and 33 'Under Control' or "advice' category at 4.30 last evening. Mine is under control for the time being but it spreads sometimes.
