After all the hue and cry raised by the media over the Karnataka legislators tour junket finally Rahul Gandhi was forced to take a stand, of course Congress will make it now look as if they always intended it that way like they did with Lokal where Rahul first wanted it to be thrown into dustbin and later went all out and now claims it is his idea to bring in Lokpal instead of Anna Hazare - anyway the tour idea seems to have got stuck at least until the elction I would think...and if Congress somehow manages to come to power everything will become topsy turvy ..

Glad to know, the tour idea got stuck up. It seems sometimes wisdom dawns on Congress men also.

It is not the wisdom but the outrage that was raised by the media...Earlier Rahul wanted to tear the lokpal bill and throw it in the dustbin and later had to eat his words when he realised that Anna will not let it go, so in a hurry he got the bill passed takig credit for it in all his speeches....similarly here he dint want the media to get any credit so apparently called the CM Siddaramaiah and asked him to cancel it !

Rahul is proving that he goes where the wind blows after all! He does not have his own opinions, thoughts or for that matter, he does not even understand the history of our country well. So he did what he did in case of Lokpal bill, the public opinion regarding it and support for Anna was far greater beyond his imagination so he changed his stand and now claims it to be his own idea, which is quite funny! And in case of the MLAs' tour, it is only due to public outrage and media publicity, it has been stopped, but it will only be until elections! After that, they are free to do what they like!

I too have a feeling that when everyone is busy with the general elections these shameless felows will take off ...The way they speak shows their utter disregard for people's opinion or the near drought status in many districts ...

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

These people are only concerned about winning elections and money and nothing else. The anger, misery, sorrows that they display occasionally is all artificial! All they are concerned about now is coming elections and they will take up issues only after gauging people's concerns and media noise!

More than anything you have to blame the parliament for making such a provision...the actual provision is for study tour and they have to be accompanied by others as well, but now it has become a sham and a central government which has no backbone can only stand and watch..

Instead of studying issues and systems, these people carry a big entourage of relatives and sycophants and all they do is go sightseeing and partying and shopping! No one benefits from these 'study-tours' except they themselves!

True Usha...in Pune too a group of such people occasionally take expensive study tours under the pretext of studying administrative, public sanitation etc. but come back after enjoying themselves to the fullest and the public money blown, without a single benefit to the public. A few years back similar study tour was undertaken to study BRT system for public transport, they came back spent crores on BRT which is in an extremely miserable state! Not even a little evidence that they thought about this thoroughly!

Personally speaking I feel that unless it is absolutely essential no politician should be touring the world at the expenses of the tax payers money. Our PM went on tours galore achieving precious little as can be seen in what is happening in USA today where he went the maximum number of times....If and when a politician wishes to see the world he should do so at his own expense.
Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah has hinted at having a debate on this issue in the assembly after media highlighted it and Congress was shown in a bad light...
