Today I was reading an article about his last journey to Shillong. It seems they travelled from Guwahati to Shillong in a convoy of vehicles. A gypsy which was leading the convoy had a soldier standing atop holding a gun throughout the journey. He was greatly disturbed seeing him standing throughout the jouney. He felt very bad for him and personally thanked him after the journey. Such was his humility. I doubt how many of the present day politicians would behave like him under similar situations

Very true ! what an irony that when such a personality is being laid to rest, our former president is making demands for a car for herself and petrol for her personal vehicle...Is there no end to this lady's greed ? Shame on her and her kind of politicians who are like leeches ..

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

Pity. Deplorable. Pratibhas will go in  to oblivion will be forgotten. Kalams stay for ever in the hearts of the people.

Losing you mortally-not your kind soul, nor your flaming path. You lie lifeless still, yet live in millions' cores of heart, home and hearth! Glowed your wisdom and knowledge as they will ever everywhere, Tears are aflow in every eye,a grief stony too deep and heavy to share! Birds are songless silent, the sky is weeping ceaseless, inconsolably glum, Tide of seas bewilderingly adrift, oceans lie sullen and uneasy in calm! O,Helmsman! Why do you come down to this planet so seldom here? To drive darkness away, not to bend, break or bow ever before fear, Poverty, ignorance, pettiness- all ugly demons are wounded and slayed, Conquered all before you winged your way You are laid to your eternal bed! Hearts are apice, tears well up in thousands refusing stubbornly to leave, My salaam, salute and pranam to you, your memory in this moments of grief!!!

@Jabeen such qualities that respect and recognise another fellow human being are extremely rare and that is why Dr Abdul Kalam was so much respected everywhere. And the less we speak of another lady who held the same post as he did, the better. The greed only keeps getting bigger.

The most remarkable about Late ex President Kalam is that he had virtually no wealth at time of retirement. He was lover of books and so will not accept any gift other than book. Apparently, he lived in govt. owned buildings throughout his life. He was single. He had also no movable assets like refrigerrator, television set etc.

An ideal personality to the core. Once, when his family members came to visit him, he paid their travel expenses and they stayed in an ordinary Guest house.

 He led An exemplary life.

I agree Kalam was an exception and is worthy of our respect. But honestly how many of us would like to follow his example?

Had the people of India followed Kalam's ideals, India would have become a Nation of Kalam.

We need a Nation comprising of Laloos and such Lalloos and Ulloos ( Owls)also for a variety.
