I have driven Reva owned by my friend about two years before. According to my friend the cost of batteries which you have to replace after 300 charges makes owning an electric car a costly affair. Actually it costs more than petrol driven car in the end.

I also read in news paper that 40% of cost of electrical vehicle is cost of battery. To success of electrical vehicles, fast charging and low cost battery is pre condition.

Fast charging is already available but the cost of battery/batteries is the main reason which makes it difficult to buy an electric car.

Some time I think that four wheeler have system of automatic battery charging, it may be possible in electrical vehicle in coming days.

Once electric cars become the norm , battery prices would automatically come down because it f the volume required.

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

I think the battery prices are going up constantly for last few years. Actually the lead acid batteries used in this process are already in high demand (your inverter battery comes in the same category) It used to be Rs 3000 a few years back is now selling for Rs 10000 now. The price of Lead is going up constantly.

All this will not happen during our lifetime for the simple reason that Saudi Arabia, USA,  and Russia have enough petrol Reserves for 60 to 70 years and they will not allow battery operated vehicles to rule the roost

But in India electrical three wheeler is replacing diesel and petrol three wheeler. I two wheeler also used by peoples with petrol 2 wheeler. But it is not easy to make electrical vehicles, vehicle of mass peoples.

thanx for sharing.........

Ya, I have seen 2 wheelers, but they are really slim, less in length i feel and cannot bear much weight. It is good for 1 or max 2 people.
