Ministers and MPs staying in 5-star hotels

News channels disclosed that some ministers were staying in 5-star hotels because they did not get official accommodation.

Ministers say that they were paying the rent from their own pockets. How the minister of a government of a developing country like India can pay rent in the tune of lakhs if not crores from their own pockets?

Many MPs are reported to be staying in welcome group / semi-government hotels on government expense.

My question is that... when other government employees have to stay in rented accommodation, then why these representatives of Indian people, the majority of whom are poor, rather the few of the poorest in the world, are not staying in houses / bungalows on rent? Even luxury bungalows are available on rent.

    i agree to your question but many people dont think like you.Actually according to me all the people should be treated the same if their minister or Mp's doesnt matter at the end of life they are like common people .

    This is the main drawback in we Indians. We don't care for the misdeeds committed by privileged people like politicians, business houses, celebrities. We simply permit them to exploit us and the hard earned money that we pay by way of taxes.

    Its really good that you have brought this thing for discussion,we could see people on the streets struggling for their daily bread while these people spend so much on extravaganza which is not really esential.
    Many politicians often forget that they are just representatives of common man the sooner they get their votes. Law should be enforced to reduce the expenses of the government for politicians.

    I too Agree and i know that many Ministers are there who stays in 5 Star or costly hotels at the cost of our money.They do not pay from their own pockets.They just send the bill to the Government.This is very bad.This is happening because of corruption.And everything should be stopped.

    The members of parliament elected on congress tickets include muli millionires who are really not politicians but were selected on basis of their money. They can spend fro their own money. But it is unbecoming for them to show such lavishness while performing job as M.P.

    The Congress deliberately gave ticket to multimillionaires for Lok Sabha membership. A tiger cannot change its spots. These newly elected congress MPs were used to lavish life style. They were not elected for living in austerity. The congress should not bother about how they live.
    Contrast it with Left parties. One C.P.I. M.P. and Deputy General Secretary of Communist Party namely D. Raja has NIL assets. One C.P.I.(M) M.P. from west Bengal also has NIL assets. naturally, they cannot live luxurious life style like the latest brand Congress m.P.s
