The multicrore-rupee Rohtang tunnel project began on June 28 this year with United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi laying its foundation stone. It is likely to be completed by 2015. It will reduce the road distance between Manali and Leh by approximately 48 km and save about four hours of travel time.

That makes a big difference of course. Delays in completing the project will lead to escalation in costs and some times we have to settle with compromised end results. If everything goes alright there is nothing like it.
Manali and Leh both are the most beautiful places in India. This is a good project. This will benefit general public. I hope, other problems will be managed by them.
The updated image of the Rohtang Tunnel.

I think it will be finished by 2015 as per their estimation.
