Deepawali is celebrated in different ways. As given in the link, this is victory of good over evil. But many also worship Laxmi, the Goddess of wealth. Thus, this is festival of wealth in North India and good over evil in South.
Thanks for the information and link.

Diwali is also a festival of lights and crackers. These may cause fire breakouts and injuries. Observe safe Deepawali. See the link:

for the Tamilians, the festival is a celebration of good over evil and light over darkness. It commemorates the day Lord Krishna killed the demon Narakasura

THANKS! THIS REALLY HELPED A LOT! Share with World now

All we want to see victory of good over evil and all religions have different festivals celebrating this but the saddest part is all these are becoming symbolic!

Not only symbolic but some times these lead to bitterness also especially when festivals of different communities are on same date.

mainly these are festivals for rejoicing. Let us enjoy all festivals and maintain harmony and love for all.

This year like the previous ones I have come across mindless revelry on the part of some people who haven't cared for stipulated decibel and burst loud crackers in densely populated areas completely remaining insensitive to the plight of the sick and old!
