Andhra Pradesh : 700
Tamil Nadu : 500
Kerala : 300
Karnataka : 400
Orissa : 250
Maharashtra : 400

The above figures are the approximate number of engineering colleges currently present in the respective states. On a whole India has more than 2500 Engineering colleges, but how far and how many among such colleges are actually generating engineers with engineering standards every year??. 90% of the engineering education system is blinded with, and depending on the Theoretical subjects and written exams. In an Indian Educational scenario, Engineers are nothing but students who can remember and write good stories well in the exams, which is why India is still depending on Other countries for growth in Science & Technology.

volume vs quality is something everyone knows to be indirectly proportionate....more the volume in production lesser the quality.....i guess this is a simple and universal truth.

I don't think the Education system has anything to do with the relation you have mentioned. Every single college has sufficient management and infrastructure to maintain the standards, but the truth is no one cares about the standards (Quality) of the education, instead they are more worried about the funds.
