it is so because Antartica is present in the poles of earth where each time winter therefore their is always snow all around for only a little time snow melts and the animals living there got some water for complete year.
Antarctica is located at polar region so it is so cool climate. Even sun also wont rise there. It occasionally raise. and this is also known as country made of ice

Slow and Steady Wins the Race.

When sun light falls on an area that area get warmed.In the case of polar regions it occurs rarely and hence most of the time it is icy.

Almost majority of the portion of Antartica is covered with ice and snow and hence the continent reflects most of the sunlight rather than absorbing it and it has higher average elevation than any other continent which results in extremes of temperature....
