Most of the members in this topic discussing about parents pressure. But look at the children,if suppose we won't give pressure means, many children could not get marks. So,pressure is needed to some extent.

Encouragement and pressure both are necessary. But the pressure should be reasonable and a child's potential and inherent ability should also not be ignored. You can't expect magical performance from a child. Treating a child like a race horse will be counter productive.

I agree. Pressure should be there. But to what extent ? A healthy balance can always be struck between pampering and extreme penalizing.

It depends on how you put this pressure on them - make them understand their responsibilities in life or simply burden them with ylour own ambitions and aspirations for them. A positive appraoach does help but any negative impact can make a child rebellious and no amount of force will produce any productive outcome...

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

Forcing children to score more marks is not good. Capabilities of one children is different from other children.they have own capability.
Let the child excel in his/her area of interest. Studies alone wont provide career for all of them.

I noted some parents using ‘Family prestige’ as tool to pressurize the children. A typical dialogue is, ‘ look, ours is a family of highly placed people. Don’t bring disgrace to the family by ending in a clerical post.’

:) Every family loves to set up their children in high paying positions. But they won't think about the capabilities of their Children.Even we are educated day by day, this family prestige is a great issue occurring in our Indian families.I think it is indispensable with Indian families

Yes,you are right. But the child doesn't know clearly to choose the area of his/her own interest.Their parents are misguiding them in a way like: Only studies can help, other things are not important.

Sorry for late reply sir.The pressure should be kept on the children until they realize and attain their ambition. This pressure will safeguard the children from other distractions. The pressure should not be only on studies. The parents should identify the interest of the child where the pressure should be kept.

Development of own personal intrinsic natural abilities is the prime, as I can only say from Three Idiots, when the three engineers about to complete their education one swings to photography leaving aside, well-paid engineering jobs.

Now studies have become mechanical. Children have become like studying robos. They are push towards marks. But not towards knowledge. Even parents and teachers also forcing them which is not at all right. As in one of the movie amir khan says we should get the knowledge but should not run towards marks. Whatever we learn should learn by understanding. When you have perfect knowledge then the success will by itself run towards us, we no need to run behind it.

Slow and Steady Wins the Race.
