It's a fact that NRI's who came back to India during the recession have easily found Jobs here than Natives who were striing for that one chance. Do you think studying abroad and Working abroad makes you more accessible to recruiters as they are more intelligent or it's just a blind myth that is still followed by Indian recruiters....Post your views. :) :cheer:

    I think studying abroad makes one feel that they can achieve anything. I am not against NRI's but the opportunities they get when they return back is more than those who reside here and are really capable.

    I think some employers and recruiters do take an exaggerated view of foreign degrees and diplomas. The point is whether the recruiters take a rational and balanced view while assessing candidates- I mean -whether it's a levelling field? Merit should be the only criterion- but some bias does come into play I don't know why. May be a psychological thing! I have the experience of working with and under such people and in relation to a few I have a positive opinion and the rest have a ring of glory which is just hollow!

    Why does this happen in Indian market...I don't know that exact reason but I think that's why most people study in abroad......

    It is the simple psychology of having greater opinions about NRIs as mentioned Chinmoymukherjee. Foreign education and quality is considered superior and useful. But, one should not blindly welcome any NRIs. Testing of the skills should be considered first and then the qualification status.

    I don't think so. I knows many who had got foreign education but hadn't got a good job.Also the reverse occurs.Indian education but good job abroad.Also the NRI's are welcomed by companies expecting their wide and wild experiences which may be useful to company.

    The point we are trying to stress is the desirability of a level-playing field free from all kinds of biases and prejudices. If any person with his foreign qualification fails to make it, it's a bit of a misfortune. But remember exceptions prove the rule and exceptions are not rules! It's a fact of life in India that any thing carrying a foreign label creates a romatic effect in our subconsciousness. I need not elaborate any further.

    Those returning from African countries have the experience I told.They have to adjust with managers,citizens of the country, climate and to compete with other companies.

    But our culture had made us to think that being so they are better than internal candidates.Unfortunately that practice followed by all our companies.
