let me ask my sister-in-law

There are some tribal communities in many parts of India, including Kerala that follow matriarchal system. In these communities, mother is family head and surname of women is adopted.

Actually according to the Indian customs, men are known as head of the family and given lot of respect than women. so the name of the women changes after marriage. But in Kerala, this is reverse, men name changes after marriage

This is new information to me. why they do so?

Want to make each day Accountable

There are many women in hindu culture too, who do not change the surname, which they got from their parent. But just add her husband's surname too.
Example: Aiswarya rai Bachchan.

I have to confirm it asking someone....
Actually, I have never heard any lady or man changing her/his name after marriage...women often add their husband's name while writing their names...if it looks good....but not at all compulsory     .

I think still our society refer man as a head of a family and their dominance are refer by there name..............
Since there is no need to change this is sole decision of a woman. If they like to keep their own surname there is no problem.

Women is joining a new family after marriage, so this can be the reason, why women changes the surname.

I have heard that women don't change their names they just add the names before their names to show their love towards their partner.

Women should be called by her husband's name after marriage and before marriage she uses her father's name. This is our tradition. It is therefore we say that women has no caste and religion. Rest depends on us, how we would consider this matter.
