Another tutorial to get you using Adobe photoshop like a Pro!.

Make a new document( File->New or Ctrl+N) the size of the document is upto you, choose anything. Then using the paintbucket tool, and selecting a black colr, fill the bg with black.

20

Now choose the brush tool and select a reddish orange color.

21 22

Right click anywhere in the document and select a 35pt soft brush. And make sure the opacity is 100%( in the tool bar that appears at the top when you select the brush tool).

23

Now make a shape resembling fire,it need not be the same way I've done!.

24

Now select red and with reduced opacity of the brush(about 50%) make a red stroke at the botom.

25

Now choose the smudge tooland make sure you have a relatively big brush(a round 30-35pt soft brush),with opacity of around 50%.

26 27

Now start to smudge the place where the red and orange meets, also make squigly strokes at the top of the shape

28

Now we go back to the brush tool, select a yellow, turn down the opacity of brush still down to 25%(orangish one) and make short strokes in the middle of the shape.Especially more strokes near the bottom.

29 30

Now choose the dodge tool and start making some parts of the fire brighter, especially the bottom center.Using the burn tool, make some areas near the top and sides darker.(the sterngth of bothdodge and burn are set to 50%-see the top tool bar after selecting the tool).

31 32

Use the smudge tool again and smudge the highlights and darkness we created. From now on, it's going to be the small details.

33

Now take the brush tool, select red color, turn down the opacity to 12% and increase the brush size to 60 pt soft brush and make a little highlight around the flame.

34

Now use the smuge tool again so that the fire and the red-highlight that we added are not looking seperate.

35

Select the dodge tool and this time concentrate on making the bottom center part of the flame more brighter.smudge if necessary.

36

Finally, select the brush tool, choose a 9pt soft brush.and in the brush properties window(it's on the top right corner)in the brush tip shape, select brush I mentioned and adjust the spacing to 100%

37

Check the scattering property, and ensure the scattering is set to max

38

Now use red and yellow colors and make few debries around the fire-see the image below.

39

Finally use the smudge tool(with a big soft brush) to blur out the excess debries, and may be add a matchstick. You can also create multiple flame or fire using similar technique.
