Potato chips eaten by everyone worldwide.

Lets study how potato chips are made.

Potato chips need to made with fresh potatoes of not more than 24 hours old. If more than 24 hours old potatoes
are used then black spots appears on the chips. Potatoes are then sent to brushing machine in which there is continuous
movement of water which removes dirt from the surface of potato. Once the dirt is removed off the potato surface,
then potatoes are moved to peeler where skin of potato is removed. Potatoes continuously tumble against peeler until
the skin gets removed.

Peeler can remove skin of 12000 pounds of potatoes every hour. There are potatoes of different sizes. So, from peeler,
potatoes are then passed to a machine which separates potatoes of enough size required to make chips. After this,
potatoes are moved to rinser where bit of water is sprayed on potatoes to keep them fresh.

After this, potatoes are moved to slicers where potatoes are cut into thin slices. Dimensions required to cut
potatoes into slices are predefined and precalcualted and set into slicers. As slicers job is to cut the potatoes,
slicers have blades which are adjustable and can be set to appropriate measurement to cut potatoes into
slices. These blades are of different shapes as well. Slicers continuously keeps rotating and potatoes goes through the
blades and get cut into thin slices of different shapes.

Once potatoes are cut down into thin slices, now these slices are ready to be washed. Potato slices are then passed
into a barrel which contains fresh cold water and slices are washed inside the barrel. Washing of slices continues
for a minute.

Once washing is done, slices are then passed under air blower to dry up the slices and remove the excess water.
Then slices are then passed into frier where oil is pre-heated upto 375 degrees farenhiet. Frier takes about 3 minutes
to fry up the potato slices and to convert them into potato chips. Then chips exit the frier on conveyor belt
to remove excess oil present along with chips.

After this, salt is sprayed from the top by another machine with premeasured amount of salt every second. Then,
powdered seasoning is done on the chips like barbeque, vinegar. Then the chips are moved into another machine which
packages the chips with preset the weight of every package. Once chips are dropped into packets, the packets are
 then heat sealed and are ready to be dispatched.
