This is a time when lot of young people would be graduating out of various colleges and wondering whats next.? While many of us were inside the college we might not have realized the importance of planning our future and what we would be doing after we graduate. And now when we are actually out of the shell which was protecting us for the past four years we have been hit by the reality and I guess its time to take the onus on our shoulders and start moving forward. This is the time when people start looking up for jobs. Few of us have made into big know lucrative firms and few unfortunate ones could not. But for those who have made it, there is no cinch that they would actually get a call, so even they are looking out for the jobs now. This make the situation kind of same for both the people.
Looking at the murky situation that’s around us for the past eight months lot of us might tend to loose hope for finding a job. The crisis has engulfed the whole world and we are no exception. So there is no point cursing oneself or pointing fingers at the others for not finding a job. Its time we start finding ways to improve our traits and work to our potential which would help us land reasonably in a good job. There are various ways by which we can start of a job search. I would like to suggest few ways.
Going by the informal way is the best way possible. Use all the resources the best possible way. Using the word resources I mean the people whom you know who are in various industries. It can be anyone, may be your father, brother, sister, friend or even a distance relatives. Just keep in touch with them, ask them if there are any options available. They are the people who would actually know the inside story as of when the form is planning for a recruitment process and all. Shoot your resume to the head hunters or better visit them personally. When you visit them in person you would not only be able to present a better picture of what you are looking for, but personal rapport with them but will ensure you stand a better chance of making to the final cut.
Newspaper advertisements are also great source of job leads particularly for entry level positions. Even though the opportunities paper that comes along with THE HINDU has started shedding of its pages every week and shrieked to a great extent, but it still does provides opportunities to people. Join in various job hunt sites and post your resume, it’s a good hunting ground for the novice. Get into various networking sites such as linkedin.com where you actually get to reach lot of HR’s in various companies. You can get in touch with them personally if require and post your resumes directly to them which might give you an edge over the others. And for those who have already got placed in various companies can get in touch with their respective HR’s and present their queries regarding their joining dates.
Working at generating a consistent and regular pool of opportunities for your job search is certainly is much more effective and positive way to deal with your search, and tapping into different sources for lead generation ensures that you still have a few new opportunities to explore each day, no matter how bad the situation gets. With so many leads to follow up surely your lead job could be round the corner.
