What is Analysis?

Analysis is the process of considering something carefully and in detail in order to understand or explain it. Consider carefully in detail to understand or explain. It is a loaded statement. You have to consider carefully. If you want to understand anything, there are three basic questions:

• What, Why and How?

• What is the purpose of this topic?

• Why has this topic been selected for Group discussion?

• How can this topic be explained in detail considering all the possible aspects related to it?

Purpose of the Topics

• Everything in this world has a definite purpose. To understand the purpose, ask the questions:

• Where has this topic come from?

• What is the basic core or fiber of this topic?

• Was there any time when this topic did not exist?

• How does this topic affect people?

• Who are those people getting affected the most?

• What research or work has yes been done on this topic?

• Why this topic?

• What is the reason behind the selection of this topic?

How to explain in detail?

• You should be very clear about the points mentioned above.

• Prepare notes from as many good books or journals as possible.

• Keep two aspects distinctly clear-in favor or against.

• Note down your innovative ideas in favor or against.

• Note down the questions you can toss before the participants, but you are supposed to know the right answer.

• You should have few much selected examples and quotes present.

• You should try to follow you inner logic to be in favor or against.

Once you have completed your homework as suggested above; try to think as much you can some very unique points that are very genuine, logical and practical in favor or against both.

The salient points should be relevance n today’s world.

Once the proper analysis is done, you are sure to have very rich and rewarding points with you to be presented in the discussion.

In a Group Discussion there are a number of participants who are free to speak at any time they feeling like and whatever they like relevant or irrelevant. But participants, who have really analyzed the topic, will never speak off time and irrelevantly.

In Group Discussion it doesn’t matter how much you speak. What do you speak, how do you speak and when do you speak- are the keys to unlock the success. It is not a debate or oration. I a Group Discussion you have to be patient and a good listener first. Wisely wait for your time, when you can say something very relevant full of wisdom and logical.

Your approach to the subject is very important. It should be very positive, original, and practical in today’s perspective and should not hurt anybody’s feelings. When you analyze anything you come across many many points, but all are not presentable at one place at a time. You have to think very well which are the points to be delivered at a particular time.

You should have an unbiased approach to be in favour or against.

Depending on the topic you should justify yourself about the purpose of the topic. If the subject is related to some problem of the nation then the interest of nation must be taken care of and your stand should be accordingly. Never be in favour or against just for the sake of becoming in favour as it sounds good. Stand for the quality of the purpose and essence of the core of the subject. If the subject is related to some organization or institution then the welfare of that organization or institution should have top most priority and your stand should be likewise.

It is true what is the best for you may be worst for someone else. In an Group discussion, you have not to win anyone or anything. Here you have to “ Approve hat your approach. It should be clear from your approach having narrowness in your approach. It should be clear form your approach that you have regards for others ideas, thoughts and presentations; because it it very personal either to be in favour against.

The judges or evaluators are least concerned about your kind of thought. They want to see the direction of your thoughts, the way you think and your priorities of the points in presentation. They can very well understand better, suppose the subject or topic is’ This only solution respective of boy & girl.

Where has this topic or subject come from?

This subject came up when the population became so much high that there started problems of food, shelter, clothes, medical facilities, education, communication, transportation etc. By the time the government and the societies became even higher.

To create a problem is much easier due to ignorance, poor planning, lack of foresight, selfish motives of the people etc., but to find out the solution for the problem and then to implement them or rectify them is very tedious, time taking and requires a lot of hard work with honesty, sincerity, without any discrimination and will full loyalty.

No couple had ever thought of the problem that may arise if they have more children. Hardly anyone in millions could have though earlier that even one more of their child is going to increase the population of the country by one digit and there of millions couple like them. So if each couple have one more child immediately the population of the country rose by millions.

How many couples think wisely and preplan be fore the wish to have a baby?

So the topic is directly related to couple and hence the origin of this topic is understanding of the couple.

If in the subject or topic, there is any word or terminology that is not clear; then first step would be to understand the meaning and definition of that.

What is the basic core of this topic?

The basic core of this topic is an individual couple, unmarried youth and awareness to the general mass of the society without any discrimination of caste, creed, color religion, rich or poor, educated or uneducated etc.

It is a problem of every individual for eh or she is a unit of the population. Every unit has to be touched, taught and made aware since the very age is age one is able to understand the problem because he or she is also going to face those problems in his or her life. Therefore, it is always better to awake before it is too late o get up and act. The basic core is not he research for the medicines, framing laws and rules etc. These will only be useful when an individual understands the theme of the problem and is ready to cooperate in a fashion it should be.

In this world the most difficult job is to teach one in a way so that he or she learn a by heart and is ready to act in the desired direction. It is a topic directly related to understanding and therefore, wisdom of the human being. It is a very subtle issue. Every individual has his or her beliefs in one social and spiritual circles. No one easily wants get away from the centres of those articles of concepts and deep-rooted thoughts.

On this earth that subject or problem is the most challenging which is directly related to the human being. It has many ifs and buts, favour and against, concepts involved.

So we can say that the basic core of this subject is an individual’s approach to it. The society has innumerable colours depending on many factors already discussed earlier so you will have to classify the society i.e. divide them into groups that have similar characteristics. It will help a lot.

Was there a time when this subject did not esist?

Perhaps or positively there was. There was a time, as history narrates; that there were not many people on the earth as of today. People definitely had many children at that time but on total, the population was not a problem. All other problems and differences related to human personality were definitely there. There had been many wars and battles in the past, but the damages were not of that magnitude as the wars of the day go.

It is written in the scriptures and ancient historical books that people were very happy at that time. Poverty was less, nature was favourable so natural calamities and hazards were negligible and so on so forth.

It is also said that history always repeats itself. The future will be the witness to it. Who knows?

We have to peep into those days when this problem did not exist. We can find out the plus points of those days and try to work on those you know that every subject or topic or problem has its history. One can learn a lot from the history. Remembering the history word by word I altogether a different aspect and a much easier job, but to actually learn from it its difficult and even more difficult is to make anybody learn form your efforts; because one learns that thing which he or she wants to. Just as you can awake a person who is sleeping but to awake what who is trying to pretend sleeping os not possible. Similar is the case with making anybody learn.

It hardly matters whether one wins or loses, but the right and sincere efforts in the right directions at the right time is desired by every individual. A person achieves some proportion of his or her efforts done in all the good faith and sincerity. History is the witness to it and present too, so the future would also stand to be with us.

How does the topic affect people?

This topic is of the people and for the people. S the entire effect is on the people.

You have already read under the previous heading that classification is a must to work on the society. It is very sure that all the people of all the society will not be affected in the same proportion, but may and will be affected depending on many humanitarian factors and conditions.

In the society itself there may be people who may or appreciate checking of population rise pr may not like to understand this burning issue of the day at global level. There may be many reservations with them. It is understanding and wisdom that plays role in the life. There are very few people who think on their own, in their own way and making a balance between heart and mind before making any decision for their lives.

To sow a seed without knowing- what is this seed all about, why am  I sowing and what kind of fruits are going to ripen in this tree. Once sown, you are bound to harvest. There are those who say it was the destiny.

Definitely there can be destiny, but without putting in the sincere efforts wisely and consistently; just to depend on the destiny or using it as excuse is a shame.

There may be some religious belief not to go for family planning. God’s wish may be another excuse. In lack of facilities of enjoyment this may be one of the means for many to justify. Likewise many factors are there that cause favour and against views.

You can and should present very relevant examples that support and clarify your statement or views. The examples should be self-explanatory and simple to understand and get the meaning it has been said for. You can say some quotes of great people to justify your approach.

You must present comparative statements or data to prove the validity of your presentation. If somehow you do not remember the exact figures, it hardly matters. You can very well use ’about’ or ‘approximately’. As earlier emphatically said that the evaluators or the judges do not want to see your memorization capability but what they like is the way you think, the examples you say, the quotes you quote, the statement or data you present, when you speak, how you speak, how much you speak, the pitch of your choice, how much you seem to be part of the group by your involvement as well as your real interest into the constructive, positive and healthy discussion.

Human beings are all around the globe. This is the subject that is valid for every country. Each country is trying its best in various ways depending on the policies of the government, background and thinking of the people, receptivity of the society on this subject etc. So, you can present the efforts done by others countries and the results they achieved, whether this is in contrast to your country or not, because the fact is fact. All types of countries are there, their approaches are different in many respects; so are the results.

Who are those people getting affected the most?

Here you should define ‘affected’ in detail( i.e. the kind, group, status, education, beliefs, dogmas, doctrines, concepts etc.)

Those who are ‘affected’ have habits, attitudes towards learning, education, monetary status etc.

Those who are receptive; aspire to learn and wish to share their experiences, doubts and questions, cooperative as well as are ready to follow the new approach for their betterment are negligibly affected people in the negative sense and most affected people in the positive sense. The most affected people on the negative line are those who are rigid in their attitudes, beliefs, habits, ways as well as pattern of life, uneducated, not receptive etc. and obviously these will be the people most affected in the positive domain.

What is the reason behind the selection of this topic?

Although it is not easily possible to conclude about the reason, but it can definitely ne thought over. You already know that it is the burning problem at global level. Every country and many societies along with the government are concentrating on this problem seriously.

But may be the organization or the institution conducting this Group Discussion is directly related to this subject and they wish to select the right person or persons for them. Or, it may be awareness programme on this subject. Or, may be they are the manufactures of some devices to control the population growth in the country. Likewise there can be may possibilities.

So, if it is a national or international issue then you have to present yourself differently then if the organization is directly related to this subject in any way and wish to achieve its target or create awareness about own company, then you have to be very specific and selective in your presentation. Moreover, you will have to give emphasis on the purpose for which the organization or institution or business concern has organized it.

Once you become able to know the reason for the selection of this very topic for Group Discussion, you can very wisely note down the salient points according to the reason for the selection.

If by chance you prepared for this topic and came to know the reason when you reached for the participation, immediately make very brief note so that you are centered to those.

How to explain in detail?

As the points have already been listed under this head and for those points we have discussed quite in detail with the example in the previous pages; so now we will touch some more concrete points make a better presentation.

Any subject for discussion has various aspects to be discussed and reach some conclusion that may be the solution for that problem. One of the main aspects is the reason or reasons(cause or causes) that made the Group Discussion to take place. Here on our example what are the reasons behind the growth in population. Once the causes are known best suiting solutions can be found out.

The devices used for family planning, plans for awareness programme, new devices developed etc. were thought to be helpful in reducing the population; but why these could not prove to be result oriented up to the desired level. Therefore, you need to process and analyze the issues to determine the problems and suggest the solutions.

For example, you can take another subject ‘ Education must be made compulsory upto class V for one and all. Suppose you are deputed as the chairperson to evaluate and decide the final proposal to achieve this goal. You now put in effort to make a list of questions whose logical and correct answers you would like to consider in your judgement.

The question may be of this nature:

• What is education? It is required for what?

• Is education upto class V really essential for one and all?

• Will one and all be interested in seeking education?

• What will be the system of education in such a multifarious nature of society?

• How much time will it take to implement and achieve the goal?

• How much will be the budget to me out the challenge?

• What should be the norms for setting up a team of experts that will evaluate the system?

• Which part of the country should be selected first to start and why?

• Which are the main subjects to be taught and medium of teaching?

Some more points can be added to this list of questions.

This type of listing the main issues for any subject helps you to be tuned and precise. It will not permit you to jump here and there.

You should prepare your notes etc. on the basis of the structure and headings given earlier. A logical, original, analytically genuine and practical structure on the subject considering all the aspects will improve to be extremely useful. This structure will help each participant of the Group Discussion to be tuned and guided by this  structure and will not divert him or anyone else so as to waste time and energy and moreover lose the main concentration from the main issues. It also helps all to reach the right and undisputed solution.

As per the above example, regarding education you can make out questions for your topic that accumulatively make you fully aware of the problems and probable solutions. The structure will very topic wise but once you have understood he purpose you can go for it without any problem.

There are few topics that do not need any structure as desired for the topic having controversial views. For example, the subject ‘A child is what he is made to learn in his very early days.’ It is true statement for all children, so a very simple structure can be required for there is no controversy on this. The structure for this type of obsolute topic or subjects, you can have –

• Few very genuine and practical interpretations of the subject.

• The essence of the subject should be conveyed to the participation of the group in the brief, until asked for to go in detail.

• Suggestions from the group are to be welcomed. Any further interpretation must also be evaluated.

• Now final view on the topic can be noted down.

The judges or evaluators on such topics just wish to see your creativity and capability to express in very sound way, since the topic has no favour no against.

There is one more type if group Discussion in which participants study a problem situation. The solution will come in the form of various options depending on the person and the angle he is looking through. For this type of problematic situation we have to first find out very minutely the real problem that is root of all problems. Now to get rid of this problem what are the possible approaches out of which one can be the course of action to solve the problem. To arrive at this solution you will have to very sensitively evaluate all other alternatives solving the problem. At the end the final recommendation can be given and delivered.

‘Practice makes a man perfect.’ You have learnt by now the theoretical aspects of many points but try to practice by your own efforts.

Remember, the detailing is always paying and winning.
