Clothes to make you Look Slim

So you have been slogging hours at the gym with no visible results? But you need to look thin for that important first date, that enviable cousin’s marriage or just to a regular office day right?

Shed two sizes without shedding a single pound! How? Just follow these basic rules and you BAM! You look thin!! Shhh.. here are the secrets!

Sit up Straight : The right posture would do the trick more often than not. Stand up straight, pull your stomach in, and your shoulders back. You can practice posture by balancing a book on your head and walking - the book shouldn't fall off! Standing up straight automatically tucks your tummy in. Stay conscious of your posture, make sure that you do not hunch over. Slumping will make you look shorter and less balanced. A bad posture can add pounds to your look or take the pounds off.

Clothes should always fit you just right. There is no point wearing clothes that are too large or that hug your skin too tight as both of them will make you look heavier. The fit should be perfect.

Horizontal stripes are a complete no-no for very obvious reasons. Stripes make your frame look broader than it is. AVOID in both pants and shirts. Vertical stripes on the other hand give you a more streamlined look thus creating an illusion of length and balance out the weight visually.

Choose your pants correct- if you are heavier ion the bottom, pleated pants would not be a good idea. The pleats can make your tummy look even more bloated. Also, the rise of the pants should be taken into account. Waists that are too low can make it look like your tummy flab is hanging and high waists can make it look like you are hiding a belly inside! Just that you are not doing a good job at it.

Divert attention to your assets- If you have toned up arms go for sleeveless tops and divert attention away from the problem areas like flabby thighs. If your neckline is enviable then wear a delicate necklace that will flatter your collar bone and not let the attention go anywhere else. Got great legs? Shorts/ skirts with a not-tight not-loose tee and you are good to go!

Wear black- black will cut down your kilos like nothing else in the world will. It instantly makes the love handles, the belly bulges much less noticeable. It also adds height. In fact, any dark solid colour like navy blue, dark brown etc. will do the trick. So incorporate more of monochromes to your wardrobe.

Accessorize right- The big, beautiful, heavy pieces of junk jewellery instantly take away the focus from the areas you would like to avoid. Also, they add funk to your costume! Bohemian chick, works any day! Right?

The empire waistline- a fashion that flatters all sizes. An empire shape is one that gathers near or just under the bust and then floats over the rest of the body. So, the rib area (which is thin for almost everybody) gets highlighted and the tummy, hips, thighs and other popular fat-prone areas get a place to hide. Win-win situation for everyone. Stock up on these! But make sure the garment grazes the body and doesn’t look too tight or too loose (Hence very shabby)!

The sleeve- A good rule of thumb is that sleeves should end right at your wrist when your arms are hanging by your sides. So if you have tops that hang past that point, bring them in to be shortened

The Graphic Act- graphic prints can easily camouflage the problem areas and cause the eye to rove. The graphics are so much for the eye all at once that the attention doesn’t really go towards the flab. Also, they are a great way to jazz up your outfit and very much in demand this season.

Bag BIG Bag- It is a fact that a bigger bag will make you look smaller and a smaller bag will make you look bigger. It is all a visual game. And comparison works. Also, if the strap of the bag is too big, get it done smaller.

The Helping Heels - they will always help add height and subtract inches!

As quoted by an expert, "Your goal should be to achieve a visually balanced, symmetrical look between top and bottom so when you look at yourself in the mirror you see an unbroken line, and no one area jumps out,"
