( Do read till the end ... M sure this article will helpa great deal of people)

While we all believe that we eat to live...more often than not...we live to it, without realising it!!

What stops us from eating sensibly or listening to our body signals which guide our actions?? 'Habits' are the culprits. Acquired over the years they become involuntary actions and we live with them without once questioning them.

Have you ever tried to feed a baby that is not hunngry?? Without doubt, it will simple turn its face away...(we did that too)... thus the baby knows The Art of Perfect Eating ie. Eating in a way that results in ones ideal weisght and the best possible health,

Over the years however we learn to ignore or override our body's guidance regarding eating.

What happens then?? Why do we eat even when we dont need to?

Here are some ways in which we convince ourselves to eat (Again this is only my personal opinion..Please excuse me if you beg to differ)

1) WE LIVE ONLY ONCE: Kal kisne dekha hai..Lets enjoy yaar!! Whats the use if we do not eat to our hearts (not body's) fill???

2) DEPRESSED: Hit the refrigerator and pep up your mood

3) ITS NOT PINCHING MY PURSE: Some one else is paying..so why not make the most of it?? Grab the chance.. Its not often people get so generous!!!

4) POLITENESS: I have just had a meal..but i do not want to offend the host ..i am not hungry..But how can i say No???

5) ITS TIME TO CELEBRATE: All those innumerable occasions, and in go pastries, icecreams, candies etc, So what?? doesnt happen everyday, does it??? So eat, drink and be merry!!

6) WEATHER MOODS: Its Raining. Ahh!!! A plate of hot bhajiyas is just what we need, washed down with a steaming cup of tea. Summer time??? Chill with colddrinks...

7) GET YOUR MONEYS WORTH: Well i am paying for this meal. Must get more then my Moneys worth. So i must have atleast 3 to 4 helpings of each course

8) TV BINGEING : Gulp go the chips, the french fries, the salted wafers and up goes the weight. Absorbed in watching the TV, the amount of snacking is overlooked

9) RESTAURANT EATING: How can i have only tea or coffee when i am waiting for some one??I am already feeling uncomfortable. Is that waiter frowning?? A few munches will keep me occupied while i wait

10) NO LEFTOVERS SYNDROME: Comeon..theres just a little left. Everyone take a helping. Lets finish it off.. Lo and behold!! the pots are empty and you are loaded.

11) ITS MEAL TIME: Whether your hungry or not..Its breakfast/lunch/dinner time... How can you not eat at meal time??

12) EMPTY PLATE NORM: In our greed or laziness to go for a secomd helping we load our plate excessively and then are unable to finish it.. Then we ponder with guilt " I cannot just leave food on the plate..there are millions dying of starvation" (No waste..It goes straight to our waist)

13) ADVANCE EATING: Its a long journey ahead. Might not get anything on the way ..Its wiser eat now ( even if your full) rather then feel hungry later...

14) SEASONAL ATTACKS: Thats the last lot of mangoes.. No more until next year.. I must eat them while i can.,,,

15) NEW ATTRACTIONS: Have you tried the new Gadbad at the so and so joint?? The latest icecream flovor?? The new pastry parlour that opened yesterday

The reasons are endless and i guess i can go on and on...

This is not just a mere article...Reflecting back I am sure you will be able to vividly recall reasons as given above for gorging at some point in time.  so hope this article acts as an eye opener ...and the next time you find yourself inventing reasons for faulty eating , you will refrain... I tried my level best to put this article in the most presentable way so you read till the end without feeling bored... coz watching out what and how much we eat is surely the need of the hour... Learn to listen to you body signals instead of giving way to temptation... The next time you reach out for that succulent chocolate cake at dessert, ask your self whether your bosy really needs it!!!

Regards

Manisha
