Almost everyone of us must have experienced backache once in our lifetime. But irony is that people are very common victims of backache now a days and almost every category of the society is being irritated from it. That’s why its simpler and more accurate cure methods are being discovered now.

Back is the most important part of our body and the important part of the back constitutes bones, cartilages (disc), joints, muscles, ligament and nerves. If any of these fails or causes any kind of problem, it leads to backache. With some of the mechanical reasons, from T. B. to Cancer, there can be any cause for the backache. Women are found to be more victims of backache than men. The reason for it is especially the weakness of muscles of back. The second main reason for it is the problem with the joints. Causes of Backache

There are many causes of backache. These causes give birth to many backbone related problems like spondylitis, survical, T.B., Back tumour, slipped disc. Slipped Disc is the most serious problem among all. To know more about it, we must first know about What is actually slipped disc? It is a disease for which we should know the structure of the backbone. Backbone is made up of 33 bones and each 2 bones are joined with a disc in front and 2 joints at the back of it. The disc is made up of rubber, which not only joins these bones but also provides flexibility to the back. The problem related to this disc is commonly referred to as slipped disc.

The Backache diseases mainly involve problems starting from back to the feet. The heaviness in feet, pain while walking which makes one sometime even unable to walk and also extreme pain in the whole body while lying on the bed.

Classical approach for cure of slipped disc

Slipped disc disease is not only related to back but can also be in neck. The people are commonly afraid of classical cure of slipped disc till now because it creates fear of a cut on nerves or being handicapped. That’s why scientists are doing their best by discovering more and more easy, accurate and unfearful methods for its cure and hence has come up with many new and advanced technologies. Even there are many medicines also  through which it can be cured but it is not possible to completely eradicate this problem till now.

Minimally Invasive Spine surgery

It is also known as Keyhole surgery which uses a small and thin tube like instrument which is called Endoscope. It is inserted in the body through a small incision. This endoscope is connected to a small video camera which shows the internal activities of the patient’s body on the TV screen in the operation theatre. These incisions are covered by surgical bandages and the marks left vanishes after few months. Sometime there is another method to treat with early and last longing backaches which is called Spinal Fusion Surgery.

This surgery can be done in many ways but for its sure success it is done through Titanium rod and Pedicle screws. The patients gets its good results after the third day of its operation. In spinal fusion, the disability in joints of the bones is made to be correct and it removes all the pressure from the nerves and patient is relieved up to a great extent but the most important of drawback of this surgery is that the flexibility of the back almost comes to an end and hence patient is not able to do all of his works normally. To cure completely from this problem a very new technique is being highlighted now and that is P.I.D ( Percutaneous Endoscopic Discectomy).

Slipped disc’s patients can be cured from backache and neck problem easily through this method. This surgery is done with only a small incision and the patient is not required to be put under general anesthesia therefore avoiding a long stay in the hospital. In this operation, a 4mm endoscope is inserted into the disc after local anesthesia while watching on the TV. It is being operated successfully while watching it through C arm and television monitor by making it 20 times zoomed. This operation consumes half to approx 1 hour and to relieve patient from its pain, the surgeon talks to the patient while operating and the patient is relieved  from the pain immediately after the operation.

This operation doesnot involves extra blood consumption of more medicines. The patient can get back to his work as soon as possible after his operation. Now people should not be afraid of the surgeries because it is an easy and efficient method to get rid from backache easily. Even the victims of heart, liver failures, sugar or breathing problems can also be cured easily through this method and without any kind of complexes.

Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic (VAT surgery)

This is a new technology added in the list to cure spine problems. Thoracoscopic spine, which is at the back of the chest is most difficult to cure. Thoracoscopic spine can cuase problems in back and neck like slipped disc, tumour, T.B, etc. These problems have symptoms like pain in chest, backache, and tensed chest and this pain can further lead to feet too. It can create problem in daily routine especially while walking. These all happens due to pressure on nerves. Vat surgery easily removes this pressure. In this, a thin tube is used to insert from chest to back bone and while watching on the TV screen, whole procedure is completed which was classically done by opening the chest. The patient’s one lung is being squeezed by making him unconscious, so that the tumour or the disc can easily be removed without any hinderance. This surgery consumes 1 to 2 hours. The patient can get back to his work the very next day of his surgery and he gets discharged from hospital after 3 days of surgery.

Prevention methods for Backache

  • You should change your habit of sitting, You should sit straight
  • Don't put load more than your ability to resist.
  • Don't sleep at very soft mattress, sleep on the hard one.
  • Don't let your weight increase more than your body requirement, follow strict diet to prevent it.
  • Avoid stress and tensions. For it, take a walk in open air, involve yourself with recreational activities.
  • Do proper exercise daily so that body remains flexible. Take a walk or do jogging or cycling or play badminton daily.
