Thyroid disease (Grave's Disease)
Graves’s disease is an immune system disorder. this causes an overproduction of thyroid hormones. This is a condition called hyperthyroidism. There are many disorders due to hyperthyroidism which are mainly caused due tto Graves Disease. Thyroid hormones affect many body systems, and the signs and the symptoms are linked with Graves’s disease. Graves’s disease is not a threat to life. It affects anyone and is very common in women. It is seen to affect women below the age of 40. The treatment for Graves’s diseases mainly focuses on inhibiting the production of thyroid hormones. This brings down the seriousness of the condition.
Graves disease has some common symptoms These are anxiety, difficulty in sleeping, irritability, fatigue and an irregular heart beat. There is a tremor in your fingers and hands. Such patients are more sensitive to heat. The patient suffers a major weight loss and cannot focus on the usual eating habits. There are alterations in the menstrual cycles. The thyroid gland enlarges and goiter is caused. In men, there is a reduced libido and a continuous case of erectile dysfunction. The eyes bulge out. Graves’s disease has many signs and symptoms of another condition called Graves’s ophthalmopathy.
Inflammation and many other immune systems affect the tissues and muscles and these have some resultant symptoms. The eyes usually bulge out and there is a lot of tearing. The eyes are irritated and dry. There is a gritty sensation in the eyes and there is a lot of pain and pressure in the eyes. The eyelids become puffy and there is a lot of sensitivity to light. The patient usually has double vision, the eye movements are limited, and tthis results in a fixed stare. There are ulcers in the cornea but this condition is rare. The vision gets reduced and the eyes are blurred.
It is important to know when to see a doctor when you are suffering from Graves’s disease. Usually if you have any signs related to heart like an irregular heartbeat or any kind of body dysfunction then you have tto visit a doctor. Hyperthyroidism is the most common condition of Graves’s disease. The thyroid hormones affect the overall body functions and thus cause a lot of problems.
