In today's world where the media is all powerful and there is an overflow of readily available information, everybody seems to be getting their five minutes of fame. The media, forever hungry for new stories and topics has invaded all spheres of life and many people, desperate to stay for long in public memory find innovative, new often shocking ways, to be seen and heard almost everywhere, almost every time. Such are their means of survival which provide fodder to the ever growing media. In such situations, the question that must be asked is whether such gimmicks are the sure road to fame or whether all they lead to is one brief moment under the spotlight after which all is forgotten.

The fact that celebrities, whether they are in Hollywood or Bollywood, use fake publicity stunts to promote their movies or increase their fame has never been doubted and they have admitted it themselves. Such stunts include false rumors like love affairs, police arrests, etc. which are just spread around to misguide the public and receive some instant attention. Even if such rumors turn out to be true, they are promptly forgotten when the next scandals break out, the celebrities having received all the mileage he or she could get out of the so called stunt. The examples are not far to seek. Rakhi sawant always want to be on the top of the page by commenting whatever she wants about the other celebrities. The same thing happens with other Bollywood and Hollywood actor and actress also they could do any thing for gaining impression from other. This they do for the publicity. They joined many other programmes for the promote of their films. Their names are sometimes found with other celebrities or minister's name. The media just can't seem to get enough of her even though such incidents are shocking and more often disgusting; they are designed to be so. Such fame, is it even worth it? Such people may be known and remembered by almost everyone due to their frequent references in the media but how do people remember them?

Some one who parties a lot, takes drugs and has all the makings of a spoilt brat. Their publicity stunts may have brought them instant fame but such fame is ill-gotten and damaging and their plans often backfire since now no privacy exists in their lives and they are forever hounded and chased by the media, the paparazzi being a case in point, which has become the bane of exixtence of all celebrities. On the othr hand, the fame of such people must also be considered, who endeared themselves to the hearts of the public, not through fake shows in the media, but through their tireless hard work and achievement. They need not go looking for fame, it comes looking for them. Such are the people who truly deserve to be in the limelight. People such as Mother Teresa who devoted her whole life to the cause of the needy and is fondly remembered by all, even many years after her death. She didnot need to call a press conference to highlight her achievement, she gained recognition and fame through the might of talent and hard work.

In the end it is wrong to say that publicity stunts may bring you your time in the sun, but, such a time and such fame is extremely short lived and fickle and it is fame for all  the wrong reasons. Real fame is achieved not through publicity stunts but, due to great deeds and thoughts and hard work devoted to a worthy cause.
