*On lifting the receiver, it's not enough if you merely say hello but mention your name or your company's.This instant information will save the time of getting it confirmed by the calling party.

*When some people make a phone call and say 'can you guess who i am?',we get irritation from the receiver's end, especially when we are busily involved in our work.therefore, let's not resort to cause such irritants ourselves.once, when a caller said the same to Sri Bapu,a humorous telugu-writer and director,he replied,"it will take some time to imagine' and disconnected the line.

* Before making a phone call, be clear in your mind as to what you are going to talk and with whom;i f available, keep the details on your side.

*  Whenever you receive a call, lift the receiver before it rings thrice.similarly,if you make a call, if the receiver is not lifted even by five rings, disconnect it as they may not be available or they may be in the bathroom, etc. and incessant ringing might irritate them. Of course you may try again after some time.

* You may have lengthy conversations over phone if you and the other party are free but beware somebody else may be trying to contact either of you. Moreover conversation over phone for hours together is not good for the ears.

* While talking over phone, don't continue eating or drinking as others can listen to your chewing or sipping sounds. Similarly, relaxing backward or lying down on bed is not good while talking over phone. If you sit erect and talk, the matter being conveyed will be clear, positive and convincing.

* Finally, when you receive a message that somebody called you either at home or in the office make it a point to return the call. This is the most important of all the phone-manners.
