Kites..... let's look at a different angle
HI friends, in this article let us discuss about a different type of topic which everyone would be fond off and that too no one hate this and it is none other than “KITE”. In fact the reason why chose he topic is that I saw a film called kite runner, which is a fantastic movie about a friendship, which takes place in Afghanistan. In this film one of the friend, is called as the Kite Runner and the reason why he is called as Kite Runner is that, he used to get the Kite which his team mate (his friend) cuts (He cuts the opposite team kite).And in this film I was very much impressed by the graphic works and it also raised my love towards kite. Because you can see the graphic works was so real and it give the feeling as if we are watching the kite fight form the sky. If you get any chance just see the film or visit their official site to the see the graphics work.
Now discussing in detail about the topic, you would be surprise to know that Kite played a great role in the revolution of mankind. Amazed!!!! This is true. Let us discuss some of the marvelous achievements that are obtained with the help of kite
i) Electricity in Lightning--- Proved:
Everybody would have heard about the scientist Benjamin Franklin. In fact he used the Kite as a basic tool for his experiment. He was able to prove that lightning contains electricity with the help of Kite .
ii) Useful for Weather predictions:
Well, during the 1890’s scientists used a type of kite called as “Box Kite”, which consists of two or more connected open-ended boxes and do you know what they carry? Hard to believe, but have to believe. They had some meteorological equipment and with the help of that they could measure the Humidity, velocity of wind, temperature, pressure etc.
iii) In Military use? Of course… yes.
Now just consider a practical situation in the present world, where any countries uses a satellite above the earth surface, to monitor the movements of enemies. Well credit must go to the Koreans, because in the past the Korean army general used to fly a kite so that it will be a signal for all his forces to follow him. But later during the end of 19th century, Britain and the USA troops used this kite to check out for the enemies.
iv) In the field of science:
The major advantage of the Kite is that it could carry objects (of little weight) easily in the air at a greater altitude and as a result of this Kites were also used to carry transmitters. But this process involves some disadvantage, because if a kite carries a conductor that might lead to a high voltage to the ground which creates problem if suitable safety measurements were not taken.
These are some of the practical applications and as a matter of fact kites are mainly used for entertainment purpose and many countries celebrate it as a festival. In Makar Sankranti is the famous festival, which is celebrated mostly across North India, during the harvest festival time, from January 15. Apart from this in Ahmedabad, a 3 day International Kite festival is conducted, before Uttaryan.Usually Kite fighting takes place in these functions. Apart from this, many Asians and Europe countries also celebrate Kite festival. So hereafter when you fly a kite, just try to recall some of the benefits of kites apart from getting entertained.
