WATER CONSERVATION

In this article I'm going to discuss one of the most crucial issues of our times - WATER CONSERVATION. The motto of this article is neither to give any lecture to World Environmental Day nor to tell the reader any big words. But after reading this article if at least 50% readers follow any two suggestions proactively on regular basis, I'll treat myself the most blessed server of mother earth.

In this universe, water is the best gift of mother earth. One drop of water is worth more than sack of gold for a thirsty man. It is the source of life. An institution like NASA also comes to a conclusion of presence of life in Mars by examining the presence of water on that planet. If we tread back in time we'll notice all big civilizations had been started near rivers. The Nile, the Tigris and Euphrates and many more rivers played a major role in the evolution of mankind. Science tells that human body is composed of 75% water and each and every day we have to intake sufficient amount of water for keeping fit.

But in spite of these importances of water sometimes we take this beautiful and most useful natural resource as for granted. The percentage of misusing and wasting of water is growing so high so that Maharashtra Government has appealed to "aamjanata" to use a particular amount of water for household and other purposes. And it’s the world famous cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar who has done this appeal on behalf of government to create a positive impact!!

Water Conservation is the most effective and environmentally sound method to fight global warming and scarcity of water. It can be referred to reduce the usage and wastage of water and recycling the already used water in different purposes like manufacturing, agricultural usage and so on.

Now I’m going to describe some very basic steps to save water. Though these steps are very small but following these will conserve a lot of water.

1>Wash fruits and vegetables in a pan of water instead of running water from the tap.

2>Collect the water used for rinsing fruits and vegetables and reuse it to water trees in households.

3>Drop tissues, napkins, cigarettes in bin instead of flushing it and save a huge amount of water.

4>For daily purpose, use broom to clean your two/four wheeler and use water to clean it on monthly basis.

5>Please be careful of leakage of flush. This is most common and most dangerous for water wastage.

6>Store at least one bucket of rain water and use it in household purposes like cleaning the car, bathing your pets.

7>When give your pet a fresh bath, make it happens in lawn so that at the same time the plants of the lawn get watered.

8>If you turn on the tap in your school/office but notice that water is not coming i.e. the tank is empty, please don’t forget to turn off the tap first and then ask the authority for water.

9>If you notice any tap is turn on in the roadside which creates a huge wastage of water please do not hesitate to turn it off. Truly speaking this is the most common scenario in countries like India and we the general people are most casual about it.

10>Use minimum amount of utensils for breakfast/lunch or dinner. According to me one plate and (if necessary) one bowl is enough.

11>Accidentally if an ice cube is dropped, don’t throw them on the sink. It’s better to drop it on a house plant.

12>Please turn off the tap while washing cloth or brushing teeth. For saving water and time one can wash face and brush teeth during bathing time in shower.

From my point of view, these are very small and cost effective tips and tricks to stop the wastage of water. And it is our responsibility to give a healthy and lively world to our next generation. Today’s rain water is tomorrow’s life saver.

SAVE WATER - WATER WILL SAVE US TOMORROW
