My Honeymoon Tour at Darjeeling
Introduction
Honeymoon is done after marriage in almost every culture. The first tour after marriage with the life partner is so called honeymoon tour. It remains memorable for whole life. Marriage helps to come close between two people and the honeymoon trip also helps to know about each other and to come close. No third person enters between two in few days life. So the new couple uses this trip to know each other from very close and take oath to go in long life with each other and for each other.
So I and my wife also have gone for honeymoon tour in Darjeeling. I am sharing few memories and something about the tourist spot of Darjeeling. This may helps many to know about Darjeeling also.
I and my wife planned it from before and made it a successful tour. Still now we can remember those days as all pictures are kept in our heart with very care. Sometimes we remember those days and feel happy.
About Darjeeling
Darjeeling is a hill area of west Bengal state. In local it is said as second Kashmir as there is some cold weather and also sometimes snowfalls can be seen. So we planned to go this destination as our honeymoon destination. In summer many tourists come here to change weather and as are so beautiful area and there are many places to visit with some beautiful temples. We planned to stay for seven days there. When we reached there the hills welcomed us with a cold air. We enjoyed very much there and still we think those days were very much special days for us. We stayed in a plane area and booked a hotel from where we could see and enjoy the natural beauties of the hills.
We live in Durgapur, in Bardhaman district of west Bengal state. So we planned to go there by train. From Howrah and Bardhaman many trains are available to go there. We made our journey through New Jallpaiguri express. New Jalpaiguri is the nearest railway station of Darjeeling. So first we reached there and from there we availed toy train to reach Darjeeling finally. Toy train is a famous media by which the journey is being more memorable. Bus and taxi or car is also available to go there. Bagdogra is the nearby airport of Darjeeling. Flight is available from Kolkata airport which is named Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International airport. Darjeeling is also well connected with many cities through road ways.
Now places we visited
Kanchenjunga, the highest mountain peak of India and second mountain peak of the world can be viewed here clearly from Darjeeling. It might be another experience of life.
It was our first tour after marriage and also for first time to Darjeeling. We gathered many information’s before going there. So we booked a car to visit some local site. There are many places to see there. First seeing sunrise from tiger hill was a marvelous trip. We got up early and reached there. Many tourists already reached there before us. It is one of the best sunrise seeing for me at least. We enjoyed very much there. After taking a cup of tea we returned taking some unforgettable shot in camera.
Next day we went Rock garden. It is a small park but so nicely decorated with flowers and plants. It was made by cutting rocks so it was named rock garden. We took many photos there. There is a artificial fall there. Journey through small lane was some dangerous but adventurous also. Driver was expert and habituated and helped us to make this trip memorable.
Next day we visited some temples. There are many Hindu temples and Buddhist temples, which are bearing many old architectures .We prayed there and enjoyed very much.
Next mall of Darjeeling. It is a plain place between hills where many people gather to enjoy their times and also from here many site scene also may be viewed. To see natural views from here was also a extra experience to us. A small local fair was also held at that time in male, where some local handmade materials were sold. Woolen products and some cotton products are special there. Some local programs were also happening then. Art and culture is also famous of Darjeeling.
We all have heard about Darjeeling tea. Tea is a famous product of Darjeeling and is supplied in the whole world. The taste of Darjeeling tea was also memorable in cold. Another food item called Momos is famous and tasty. Its taste is also in our lips still now. Rice, chapatti, Chinese foods were also available. We tasted all types of food.
Language spoken: Mainly Bengali, Bhutani, and Nepali people live there. There are some other communities also live there. So Bengali, Nepali, Hindi, English are spoken languages of there. They maintain a common harmony among all religions. We are Bengali but we did not face any language problem there as they can speak in Hindi, Bengali or in English.
The people of Darjeeling are very simple and well hearted. They welcome tourists from their heart and help in every needs. Their life style is also very simple. Their main source of income is from tourism, so they are very careful of tourists. They helped us also very much in every way.
Best time to visit: Normally March to September is the best time to visit. We went there in April as then in our locality there was summer with too much hot. So we enjoyed the coldness of that time. It was great refreshment also. Monsoon creates some problem; otherwise all time is the best time for Darjeeling.
We did not take any package. We took a local guide there. There are many packages and many agencies provide such facilities with accommodation also. Cost is very low and there are many hotels there. Car and taxi are always available to go to any destination.
Some other destinations nearby Darjeeling
Gangtok, Mirik, Pelling, Karsiang and some other places are nearby Darjeeling. So such places can be visited after visiting Darjeeling.
Some other tips
- Don’t forget to take warm cloths.
- Take some medicines.
- Take mosquito coils or net.
- Take drinking water (mineral).
- Take identity proofs.
- Don’t take much hard cash,take ATM card.
- Don’t forget to take camera and handycam.
