Sriramanavami is marriage of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita. On this day we offer special and delicious dishes to Lord Srirama and Goddess Sita after we perform their marriage. The dishes are Panakam & Vadapappu. On that day, while serving food to the people on the occasion of srirama navami, the organizer includes some tastier food items in the menu. Then only the menu gets a complete look. The tasty items are Carrot Boorelu, Sabudana or saggubiyyam halwa, Moongdal /Pesara pappu vada are specials of the menu. Let us know about these tasty dishes in detail.

Pesara Pappu Vadalu / Moong dal vada :

Ingredients for Pesara Pappu vadalu / Moong Dal vada:

  • Moong Dal / Pesara Pappu – 2 cups
  • Green chili – 2
  • Ginger –Small Piece
  • Cumin seeds – 1 Spoon
  • Salt – According to taste
  • Coriander – little
  • Oil – ¼ Kg
  • Grated coconut – 2spoons
  • Raw chana Dal – ½ cup (soaked)

Preparation of Moong dal / Pesara Pappu vadalu :

  1. Wash Moong dal with water and then soak in water.
  2. After 2 to 3 hours, take that soaked moong dal in mixy then add green chili, salt, cumin seeds, grated coconut and coriander.
  3. Grind them finely.
  4. Now place a wide bowl on the stove and add oil so that we can do deep fry.
  5. Then take grinded mixture and mold it as vada.
  6. Then role it in the soaked toor dal until it become gold brown in color.
  7. Then take them into serving plate.
  8. Therefore, the crispy moong dal / Karakaraladay Pesara pappu vadalu are ready.

About Pessara Pappu vadalu / Moong dal vadalu :

There are very tasty and if they have when are in warm with combination of any chutney it will be tastier.

Coconut Pongralu

Ingredients for coconut Pongaralu :

  • Grated coconut – 2 cups
  • Wet rice flour – 2 ½ cup (wetted rice made in to flour)
  • Jaggery – 1 cup
  • Sugar – 1 cup
  • Cardamom – 6
  • Oil – ¼ Kg
  • Kaju – ¼ cup 
  • Ghee – 4 spoons
  • Curd – 1 cup

Preparation of Coconut Pongaralu :

  1. Place a bowl on the stove.
  2. Then add water and jaggery in it.
  3. Let jaggery get melt completely.
  4. Now add grated coconut, sugar, rice flour and mix them thoroughly.
  5. When this mixture gets thicker then adds ghee in it and close the bowl with a lid.
  6. Then add curd in it and mix it finely until the mixture become slippery.
  7. Now place a pan on the stove and apply ½ spoon ghee to the pan.
  8. Now drop the mixture on the pan like small size dosas.
  9. Fry on both sides of these small dosas.
  10. Therefore, coconut Pongaralu is ready.
  11. These can be fried in oil also as you wish.
  12. After getting fried these coconut pongaralu will become into 2 layers.

Sabudana Halwa / saggu biyyam Halwa

Ingredients for Sabudana Halwa / Saggu biyyam Halwa :

  • Sabudana – ¼ Kg
  • Sugar – ¼ Kg
  • Food color – little
  • Ghee – 100g
  • Kaju – ½ cup

Preparation of Sabudana Halwa / Saggu biyyam Halwa:

  1. Soak sabudana before 5 hours.
  2. After 5hours, removed water from the soaked sabudana and grind them finely.
  3. Now place a wide bowl on the stove and melt ghee in it.
  4. Then add sabudana mixture and fry for 5 minutes. 
  5. Then add sugar to it and keep on mixing.
  6. Now add food color and keep on mixing in the middle.
  7. Let it get cook until the mixture gets ticker.
  8. After it completely cooked then off the flame.
  9. Now take this mixture into a serving plate and garnish it with dry fruits.
  10. Therefore, Saggubiyyam halwa / Sabudana Halwa is ready.

About Saggubiyyam Halwa:

This is a awesome sweet made of Sabudana. I love it very much. At I have it once in a week. The process of the preparation of this sweet is very easy. If you does not like adding color, then without adding color also. Sabudana is really healthy food to us. 

Carrot Boorelu

Ingredients for Carrot boorelu:

  • Carrot pieces – 4 cups
  • Jaggery – 1 Cup
  • Sugar – 1 Cup
  • Cardamon – 5
  • Grated coconut – ½ Cup
  • Oil – ¼ Kg
  • Besan flour – 1 Cup
  • Rice Flour – 1 Cup
  • Salt – 1 Pinch

Ingredients of Carrot Boorelu :

  1. Wash carrot pieces with water and then boil them by add 2 cups of water.
  2. After few minutes add grated coconut, sugar and jaggery.
  3. Mix them finely.
  4. When the carrot pieces get over boil and form as paste then add ghee in it.
  5. Then off the flame.
  6. After it get cool then make this carrot mixture into small ball of lemon size and keep aside.
  7. Now take rice flour, besan flour in a bowl.
  8. Then add salt and some water in it.
  9. Mix them finely in such way the mixture should be slippery.
  10. Now place wide bowl on the stove and add oil in it.
  11. Let the oil get heat .
  12. Now dip the carrot balls in the riceflour, besan mixture and drop them in oil.
  13. Let them fry until they change to golden brown in color.
  14. Then take them on to the serving plate where tissue paper is spread.
  15. Therefore, Carrot Boorelu is ready.

About Carrot Boorelu:

Carrot Boorelu is different kind of dish and very tasty. 

Kova Rolls

Ingredients of Kova Rolls:

  • Maida – ½ Kg
  • Sugar – ¼ Kg
  • Sweet Kova – ¼ Kg
  • Ghee – 100 g
  • Milk – ¼ Litre
  • Kaju – ¼ Cup

Preparation of Kova Rolls:

  1. Take maida, milk, sugar in a bowl.
  2. Mix them finely.
  3. Then add sufficient water in it , so that the mixture become slippery
  4. Place a pan on the stove.
  5. When the pan gets heated up then apply ghee on the pan.
  6. Now pour the slippery mixture as dosa on the pan.
  7. After 2 minutes apply ½ spoon ghee to the dosa.
  8. After it get roasted then turn the dosa and apply ghee to it.
  9. Let it get roasted on the other side.
  10. The dosa prepare like this, should be taken on a wide plate. 
  11. Now place the sweet kova on the middle of the dosa and then fold it in to middle.
  12. Then fold remaining dosas also.
  13. Therefore, Kova rolls are ready.
