*What is A.M. what is P.M.?

We use A.M. for stating time before noon and P.M. for time after noon. In Latin the word `Meridies’ means midday or noon. The sun is usually overhead at noon time. The day is divided into two parts one before noon and one after noon. In Latin `anti’ means before and post mean after. So the time before noon is called `Ante Meridies’ and written as A.M. or a.m. time after middy is called `Post Meridies’ and shortened as P.M. or p.m.
