You are your own Role model
People who are not aware of their own strengths are aplenty. Its due to the fact that people always ignore their own blessings. They fail to see the virtues embedded in them. They long to possess all those qualities and traits existing in the other person, even though the qualities in them are of much superior standards. Under rating one's self speaks of one's inferiority complex. People with inferiority complex feel low about themselves. If he's poor, he develops an inferiority complex seeing a rich man. If he's an illiterate, he develops an inferiority complex seeing an educated. If he sees a beautiful woman, he thinks that he's the ugliest of all
'I'm not noticed by people'
'People simply seem to ignore me.'
'I'm unable to make the people spell binding with my speech.'
Are some of the feelings that find an abode in the thoughts of a person afflicted with inferiority complex.Those feelings are amazing, bizarre and odd. These feelings will make them mentally and physically away from the mainstream. They prefer to live in their own world.
People must remember, whatever may be their condition , they are their own heroes. They are their own Role models. They should erase the feelings that they are most drown trodden people under the Sun. Such people are damaging their own self esteem and digging their own grave. Don't belittle yourself with such self- erasing thoughts.
How to overcome Self- Erasing
Mix with people. Don't shy away from gatherings. Try to have as much interaction as possible with the groups. Closely watch those people who seem to be cynosure of all the people in he gathering. Observe how they are talking and how they bare electrifying the atmosphere. How others are vying with each other to be in his looks. And don't forget to watch one thing. Those people who are the main attraction of the gathering are neither stunningly handsome nor sporting costly glittering garments. They make each person in the gathering believe that he is talking exclusively with them.Their talk is so silken and polished. In a nutshell he looks as if the entire situation in the gathering or party is well within his command. Its not difficult to find out that those people are as normal and as common as you and I. The difference is they cultivated those traits which are already in them. They honed up their hidden talents to their advantage.
This can be done by anybody.
Most of the people are the victims of their own self imposed restrictions and beliefs. Many people are of the opinion that excellence is the domain of a few blessed ones. See this story.
A student of intermediate class had gone to a psychiatrist and asked him, "Sir i want to become a great achiever in my field, But I'm unable to do."
"Why?", the psychiatrist asked.
"I'm very tall. People are staring at me while i'm passing through the road, in the college and making me feel uncomfotrtable and self- conscious. I feel that i have lot of deficiencies in me. That's why people are staring at me."
"How do you know that people on the road are looking at you?"
"Because I'm looking at them."
"Why don't you mind your business?, By staring at other people on the road, don't you think, you are causing inconvenience to them?"
"Yes, it seems you are right.", the boy admitted.
"Yes, I'm right. Why a wayfarer should look towards you?. You are as normal as any one on the road. You didn't dress in an odd way nor you are wearing a bizarre costume."
"True.... but still....." the boy wanted to say something. But the psychiatrist cut him short and said," Look, this is all your imagination, which is playing on your head. Don't think that you are alone. There are many like you, who imagine a lot and fall as victims of inferiority complex. This is nothing but signing one's own death warrant.Such people are stuck in a rut. They see their deficiencies under a magnifying glass and shudder at their own shadow. Unless nthey resolve to amend themselves nothing could be done and no one can help pushing them out of their rut."
However there is a way out
Be proactive. Don't hesitate to talk with strangers. Take initiative, start a conversation while you are waiting for the bus at a Bus stand. By talking with strangers, its possible to drive away shyness and hesitation.And this in its turn clears your mind from unnecessary and meaningless suspicions about others whom you think are staring at you or talking ill of you.
Make Book reading a habit.
Book reading has the power to prevent you from idle thinking. Because it practically lifts you to an altogether location. The added advantage is, you can share the knowledge of great writers without feeling shy. And you need not hesitate to ask the writer all about your doubts until you understand them and form a clear picture.
Get rid of your superstitions.
The strongly embedded superstitions which were passed on to us from generation to generation should be eradicated at the earliest. All the myths connected with superstitions should be busted. We see many of us consulting an almanack for everything and for all the things they do.
I know a girl student who is of the firm opinion that her intermediat6e exams started on an inauspicious day. And she is also sure that whatever efforts she puts will go waste as they are under the spell of 'Sani', the god of misfortune. Some other superstitions which are prevalent in the society are about a cat crossing the way when someone is out on a job.
And the mother of all superstitions is "Sneezing." And this is closely followed by peoples' belief on Numerology. My neighbour's son firmly believes that the number on his "Hall ticket" is inauspicious and is not in tune with the number connected with his name. Hence, he's damn sure of failing in the exam.Of course he failed, not due to incompatible number, but due to his firm faith in Numerology.
Now the Million Dollar Question.
Why people invest their faith on wrong issues?
Answer is simple. People are drawn towards bad more easily than towards good. It's easy to fall prey to the bad. To get into the company of good attitude one needs to have a strong will with a definitive 'Optimistic attitude.'
Optimistic attitude is that trait in a person that makes him/ her see an opportunity in every (So called) obstacle. They are not ruled by superstitions. As Helen Keller put it aptly, 'Optimismn is the faith that leads to achievement ; nothing can be done without hope.' An optimist keeps his heart and eyes wide open to catch up with all those wide spectrummed opportunities at his disposal. Who knows where your most sought after opportunity is hidden. Optimism is joyful searching with hope.
Look at those all Joyful searchers.
As hinted earlier an optimist doesn't believe that his road comes to an end without options. Winston Churchill was ridiculed by his own teacher, " You cannot talk." But Winston Churchill has gone into the history pages as one of the best orators in the world.
Charlie Chaplin was heckled for his short stature and people declared him with one voice. "You are unfit for acting." The world knows where this short statured man sits in the annals of cinema history. The heading of the page says, The Best "Comedian in the world."
Seeing the sketches made by this young man, the editor laughingly said, "You don't know how to draw." But that very young man bounced back as the greatest Cartoon creator of the world, Walt Disney, the creator of immortal characters like 'Micky Mouse', Tom and Jerryy'
Now tell me
What would have happened to all those celebrities had they succumbed to the idle and waste talk of the street? Why they bounced back despite the wise remarks of the peers of the society?
Let me answer you
Its the firm faith in those people on their strengths and weaknesses that made them surge ahead. They didn't compromise with what the others said about them. They treated every failure as an opportunity. They did not curse the conditions, rather they searched for the deficiencies in them and corrected them. They bounced back with renewed vigour.
Above all, they didn't look for a role model for inspiration.
They have become their own Role Models.
They never looked back.
