These Martyrs laid down their lives for the sake of this Country.

They died with a smile, when they were hanged in Lahore

Jai Hind

Their story was beautifully captured on screen by Manoj Kumar in his film Shaheed.

Yes.I  Have seen Shahid, produced by Manoj.

Still those songs are ringing in my ears like Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna and Mera Rang De Basnti etc.

While browsing some articles I came across that even january 30 the is considered as Martyr's day because on jan 30th 1948 Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated and it is considered as the most saddest day. Hence 23rd MArch and 30th Jan are considered as Martyr's Day.

The hanging of Bhagat Subgh, Sukhdev Thapar, and Rajguru in 1931 spurred many youths to take up revolutionary path, which in turn paved the way to India's India's independence movement.

Their sacrifices are still remembered.

Though many of great freedom fighters like these has given their life for our country, but our history books have knowledge about only few of them, and their life is described in only few lines. Historians have only focused on one or two persons and tried to show that only due to these our country was able to get freedom from British rulers.

Even if the sacrifices made by these Martyrs are not mentioned in History Books, i don't think their greatness will reduce, . The sacrifices made by Bhagat Singh, Sukdev Thapar and Rajguru will remain in the hearts of Indians will remain forever.

School history books will naturally cover limited number of freedom fighters because of obvious limitations. This does not mean others are ignored. Also which ideology is in power also decides to a large extent who will be highlighted.
