There are few good services offered in India in wireless broadband section:

1. Reliance NetConnect

2. Tata Photon

3. BSNL Wireless card

You need an initial investment of Rs.2000-3000 for the data card/usb card. All of them are good, however I prefer Reliance one which offers better performance. However if you visit to remote areas more often, BSNL would be the better choice as Reliance and Tata both are offering in few cities only.

For me at home I prefer DataOne as it beats everything in terms of performance and stability, however of course not offer mobility.

For faster speed wireless internet ,i think Tata Photon plus  is the best one. Some of my friends are using it and they are finding it very efficient in terms of faster speed & good connectivity with a wide range of tarrif plans to choose from based on one's usage.

In my view, BSNL card is the best. I am going to look for a BSNL e-video to get unlimited free downloads. I had used the CDMA data card of BSNL and it has a satisfactory speed. However, due to the option of free unlimited downloads, I am going to shift to the e-video.

I had miserable experience with tata, not the photon plus. The speed of the tata indicom normal data card is poorer than that of BSNL Mobile GPRS. It is simply waste of money.

The wireless data card by airtel is pathetic. The speed is almost zero, never go for airtel data card.Try TATA indicom USB instead because its faster and cheaper too.The only advantage of GSM data cards is that you get global roaming.

BSNL 3G customers who make a commitment of longer period will be provided 3G data card
(Teracom LW 272, Data speed-3.6 Mbps, Single Band, USB Type) free of cost as per 3 Plans.

Airtel, launched their 3G Data Cards (Micromax 300G @ Rs.3,499/- and Airtel 3G USB Modem @ Rs. 3,799/-) and offers are at the workspace.

Idea, also launched 3G Net Setter (Huawei EG612) @ Rs. 1,999/- and they too working with plans.

There is no USB Modem as fast as Tata Photons Plus in India. It has unmatched speed and network is available all over the country. Though it is little costlier, it is the best and I too use it.
