Why kids don't want to be farmer in future these days?

I have seen most of the kids today no one want to become a farmer in future even we say that we will educate our kids so that they become an engineer or a doctor in future. Is there anything wrong in becoming a farmer when there are lots of new techniques these days and a farmer can aslo lead a lavish life than others.

Everyone now is clamouring for jobs in IT etc. that pay a lot better than farming does. Actually if proper training is taken, with modern equipments and innovative farming techniques, farming can be a fruitful venture but lack of governmental policies, uncertainty of weather, uncertainty of proper income when the crops are bountiful etc. and most important unwillingness to do hard work is what is keeping youth away from farming.

indeed agriculture is not profitable job in these. it is hardest job. The only way to make it interesting is increasing minimum support price of grains.

They may not actually do it the old fashioned manner with cow and tiller but there are any number of agriculturists in my own town, highly educated and using tractors and also doing hard labor when required...I guess one can see this in smaller towns since there is no cultivable land available in large cities, it gets converted into house sites...

The prospect of living in a village doesn't come naturally even to those who are born in villages. It is quite obvious the plight of farmers is not quite good financially and otherwise. Also, we are taught to think as children that only profession which is respectable and good are either doctors or engineers. But times have changed people are coming out of the stage of doctors and engineers. People are looking forward to other career options too..soon with the help of govt. farming will be taken up in the near future.

Even I have noticed the same SJ. May be today's kids thinks that it is not that reputable business. But let me tell you it is the most profitable and reliable business for now.. And its future is really bright in compare of any other business. People should surely think about positively.

Reasons are obvious. Farmers re being given a cold shoulder by the government and and the environment. Owing to this reason no child, shows an inclination to take up a career in farming

I agree with rambabu, he is right, and children think this is not a profitable business and mostly they are attracted to glamour world or want to be an engineer or doctor

One of the factors is that by being an agriculturist, you do not earn the same prestige as that of the Engineer or a Doctor. Framing is a business where you have to put in a lot of investment while the returns are not that rewarding. Until there is a direct business between the buyer and agriculturist, farming will not be able to earn the respect it deserves.

I don't know if farmers can really afford to live a lavish life. The reality is far harsh than what you say. But I know many families personally and have seen children turning to farming. So, it would not be totally right to say that kids don't want to be farmers of tomorrow.

People do not want to involve themselves with hard work and do not want to stay in villages therefore they are avoiding working in villages. That is only one part of the reality but to live a better life in city they are selling their lands and coming to city taking a chance to get a government job.

Due to increase in technology many students are not showing intrest on farming. Less help from government to the farmers and nature also showing its cruel ness towards farmers.

Educated people don't want to work in soil or dirt. They have passion and ambition for a decent AC chamber office.

I think this has to do with Farming being a less glamorous occupation and that fact that it involves hard work.
