V.Arunkumar According to Rayleigh scattering law, the amount of scattering is inversely proportional to the fourth power of wavelength. Hence violet light is scattered more and red light is scattered the least. But since the wavelength of violet light is so less, it cannot reach earth. Hence the sky appears blue. - V.Arunkumar - 11 years ago

A clear cloudless day time, sky appears blue because molecules in the air scatter blue light from the Sun more than they scatter red light.

Most probably due to refraction the colour of the sky appears blue.
