V.Arunkumar According to Rayleigh scattering law, the amount of scattering is inversely proportional to the fourth power of wavelength. Hence violet light is scattered more and red light is scattered the least. But since the wavelength of violet light is so less, it cannot reach earth. Hence the sky appears blue. - V.Arunkumar - 8 years ago

Most probably due to refraction the colour of the sky appears blue.

The sky appears in blue colour because the molecules in the air scatter blue light from the sun that that of other colours.
