Many times I see people taking liquor on festivals like Diwali or Holi they say it its a ritual but is it really good to take it on auspicious days even though its a ritual.

In my opinion It is fine to consume alcohol on festivals but it should be within your limits. After all it is a festival and you have to be in your high moods to enjoy it.

I am dead against drinking during family functions, marriages, festivals and public meetings. Consuming alcohol can be accepted while you are among friends, clubs or bars places especially meant for consuming alcohol because people there know what to expect. It may create embarrassing scene some times as we see them often during public and family functions. Alcohol, if consumed within limit and in proper places is okay but not in family functions. No way.

If you have control over yourself and feel like doing so why not.But ideally I would prefer not to do so, but leave it to the individuals to decide what they want !

Holi and Diwali festivals are older than invention if liqueur- specially foreign brand and IMFL (India made foreign liqueur). On Hole Bhang is understood but I wonder when Diwali got associated with liqueur. I am not opposed to liqueur but see no sense in associating this with festivals like Diwali and Holi.

I am totally against consumption of liquor on festivals, most of our festivals are associated with religious beliefs and rituals and consuming alcohol on such occasions, even under pretext of tradition is wrong and disrupts any sanctity of such occasion. So why drink alcohol and make a fool of yourself.

Liquor is a poison. Do you think, its bad effect will be reduced if drunk on a festive day? Wisdom lies in keeping away from the venom.

As such I am against boozing. More so at functions such as pujas and marriage. I think it is insane to observe a festival while consuming liquor.

Having alcohol is not at all part of any Hindu or Muslim rituals. If they said so, they are wrong. Festivals have sacred and holy purpose. We should pray to God and enjoy good life with our families.

Well, personally I don't drink, so can't explain perfectly if it is right or not. But if quantity of drinking is limited and one can handle himself/herself after it, then any time is okay.

There are many festivals linked to the alcohol. They will take alcohol with families so at that time there wont be any refuse from family members also.
