There are various possible reasons why a child cries. Since, you have not specified the age of the child it is difficult to provide exact answers. If you want to know why a very small child cries, it is because of hunger, because of bowel issues, stomach pain, a child may also cry to signal that s/he needs to sleep. If the child is verbally competent, can speak, we can ask the child about it.
A child cries for anything as he/she can't communicates with others like us and when a kid requires something but can't express it and can't get it cries.
I have seen many children to cry to see others crying. These is because they are sensitive and emotional. There innocent hearts can't see anybody in pains or sadness.
