We are what our DNA is made up of, and that is, our genes. Everything we do, the way we talk, the way we walk etc. is all dictated by the genes we receive from our parents. So it is inevitable that some of the diseases too are going to be passed on to us by heredity. Forget about rare diseases, common diseases like blood pressure, diabetes, heart diseases etc. are also mapped out in our genes. But it does not mean that if my father died due to a heart attack, I will die too because of it, but my likeliness of dying due to a heart attack increases much more. So if I take proper care of myself by exercising, eating right etc. I can reduce the likeliness to a great extent.
But like Usha too has mentioned above, there are lot of ways to identify many diseases in early stages and prevent their occurrence.

It is natural because we inherit genes of our parents and our forefathers as well, so one can never be sure what we have inherited. However genetic science has advanced a lot now and is able to identify genetic traits to a large extent ..

Genes in DNA are responsible for all heredity diseases. Genes transfer from generation to generation hence it also carry diseases, awareness and pre-knowledge can control diseases caused by heredity.
