Some of the better made films in the recent years

It is not very difficult to choose because there are not many that are really worth watching more than once ...I personally dont watch many films in the theater . The last ones were Bajirao Mastani , Finding Fanny and Piku .. Other than that I liked Dil Dhadakne do and Zindgi na milegi dobara . Please name some of the above average films in the recent years that you have seen, liked and would recommend to others  ..

I would like to mention movies I watched since 2010-2011. The movies listed above - Zindagi na milegi dobara is definitely best among the 5 inspirational movies made in the past two decades or so (in commercial movie category). Queen - is a must-watch movie, and would like to suggest to movie buffs. Manjhi-The Mountain Man (though not a commercial film) touched me a lot.

Haider, Barfi, OMG, Special 26, Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, Vicky Donar and The Lunch Box are among the finest movies made in this decade. Other top choices since 2010 - The Dirty Picture, Paan Singh Tomar,  Lootera, Do Dooni Chaar, Kahani, Holiday, Aashique 2, Ferrari Ki sawari, English Vinglish, Jolly LLB, PK, Mardaani, Masaan, Mary Kom, Udaan, Ishaqzaade,  Bhaag Mika Bhaag, Raanjhana, Ishqiya, Talaash, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Ek Thi Daayan etc.I also liked Chennai Express, Dedh Ishqiya, Golmaal series belonging to comedy genre.

For year 2016, Big B is the real star. If you want to watch some recent movie with strong social message, I would like to suggest - Pink. As I am a great lover of thrillers, I liked T3EN and also Wazir, both starring Big B & released this year. Also I liked Shah Rukh's performance in Fan - Perhaps the actor's finest performance up-to-date, though the movie's second half is not worth as its first one. Neerja, Airlift, Nil Battey Sannata are a few more good movies this year. I would like to recommend 'Phobia' - a brilliant movie made in the recent times.

If I remember more good films, I shall edit this reply.

I would say - Gangs of Wasseypur ( both parts) for the Godly acting performances by one and all and the realistic direction.

Tanu Weds Manu ( both) for the protagonist and breaking the female stereotypes and adding new angle.

Queen - loved everything about it.

Pink, Bajiroa Mastani, Piku, PK are other few who deserve their places along with Vicky Donor, Lunch Box

I don't see many movies but the last one I saw worth watching was Piku,. it was an excellent movie with great story and equally brilliant acting by all the stars. I saw the trailer of Bajirao Mastani and the songs and I am totally dumbfounded to see how low a director can fall to portray the life of a great warrior in such sleazy manner. All that this movie shows is the love story of the Great Peshwa while completely neglecting the great wars fought and won by him, his significant impact on the Indian history etc. The way he was shown dancing to a raunchy number completely reduces the film to a masala movie. While Gangs of Wasseypur is much in keeping with the reality and tone of the world we live In. Another movie I would like to comment on is the Fukrey which shows the sleazy and corrupt but real underside of the political world.

usha manohar Kalyani,i know there were many controversies surrounding the film but what I liked was the treatment and I love all historical films , am sure a lot of liberties have been taken with this like it was done with Devdas - usha manohar - 7 years ago
usha manohar In fact that one song stood out like a sore thumb because it simply did not connect and supposedly added later on - usha manohar - 7 years ago
Sandhya Rani @Kalyani. I too felt the same while seeing the movie, though I am not a part of Marathi culture. We should not tamper history solely for the purpose of entertainment and commercial purposes, that's my opinion. There is one 'Pinga' song similar to 'Dola Re' of Devdas. I read somewhere Marathi queens never dance, and it's somewhat insulting old culture. A few alterations are OK. Otherwise the director could have written the script of a fictional story, taking inspiration from the love story of Bajirao and Mastani. - Sandhya Rani - 7 years ago
Sandhya Rani Most recently one film got released - Mohenjo-daro. The idea of white feathers and flying crocodiles backfired the producers. Audience are more intelligent then a couple of decades ago, and they always compare movies with historic facts now, rather than thinking 'it's not real and only a movie'. Now plots with suitable reasoning are working. Budget is not the main issue. I most recently watched a 2007-yr movie - Johny Gaddar. What a powerful script and surprise twists. Such ideas always work, even if songs are not pictured in foreign locations, and newcomers and less-known actors work. - Sandhya Rani - 7 years ago

I am a Movie Buff.  I have seen all the movies you mentioned. Besides those Movies, I had seen  Barfi, OMG, English Vinglish which was made in Telugu too, Vicky Donor and the lunch Box.

In the recently made movies that were better made I would suggest Pink starring Big B.
