Among the names mentioned, I like

1. Laxmikant Pyarilal for Ek Pyar ka nagma hain from shor, which incidentally is one of my favourite song, and pathar ke sanam tujhe hum ne muhabbat ka khuda jana

2. Salil Choudhary for Jaare jare udd jare panchchi and tasveer teri dil main

3. Naushad Ali for Bachpan ke din bhula na dena and Nanhe munne rahe ho

My choice is Madan Mohan and Nausad. Roashan was also nice music composer. he is perfect is composing music of Qualies.

Undoubtedly RD Burman for being all time favourite. I love Hridyanath Mangeshkar's compositions for Maya Memsaab. And not to forget A  R Rehman and Illayraja, some of the gems and legends. 

After talking about my favourites, I would take these three music composers from your list

!. Salil Choudhary---Zindagi kaisi ye paheli and Kahi door jab din dhal jaye (both from Anand)

2. Bappi Lahiri--Pya bina chain kaha re ( saheb) and I am a disco dancer ( Disco Dancer)

3. Anu Malik- Ye mere humsafar, ye meri jane Ja ( from Baazigar) and Moh moh ke dhaage ( Dum laga ke haisa)

Naushad, composer of Mughle Azam - Pyaar kiya to darna kya and Teri Mehfil mein.

Lakshmikant Pyarelal composer of Parasmani  -  woh Jab yaad aaye bahut yaad aayeHansa hua Noorani chehara

 Madan Mohan composer of Haqeekat - Kar chale hum fida and woh dekho jala ghar kisika

Sadly,  and surprising, you have not included my most favourite music director in the list. Undoubtedly Shankar-Jaikishen is the best music composer Bollywood has ever produced...and no other music composer can match their divine talents. They completely dominated music industry since mid-1950s till early 1970s, and their record of Filmfare awards was broken by Rahman only after three decades. Except a few of S.D and Madan Mohan, my most favourite compositions of late 1950s and 1960s are composed by SJ. So I can't include them in your list. Majority of Shammi Kapoor, Raj Kapoor and Rajendra Kumar hits are composed by SJ.

As I am an ardent fan of Bollywood music of 1960s, I am deeply saddened - my favourite SJ couldn't find a place in your top-9 list. S.D and Madan Mohan are my next two favourites. R. D. Burman is the top music director of 1970s and Rahman since mid-1990s.

Sandhya Rani among the list, Madan Mohan is my favourite. I choose 'Nayana Barse' and 'Lag Jaa Gale' from Woh Kaun Thi as his best songs.As S. D. Burman is not in your list, I would prefer to choose R.D. Burman. It's not an easy task to choose his best songs. Na Jaa of Pyar Ka Mausam is my most favourite RD composition. Kya Janoo Sajan from Baharon Ke Sapne, Baho Mein Chali of Anamika, and many more. I can't choose just 2 or 3. - Sandhya Rani - 7 years ago
